Maul: Shadow Lord has just aired its final two episodes this week, and the highest critic-scored Star Wars project ever has now achieved something similar with audience scores for its finale. That has now added up to a Star Wars IMDB record , edging past even the previous best shows in universe history.

Released in batches of two episodes a week, Maul aired its penultimate entry and its finale, rated a 9.6 and 9.8, respectively. The latter ties the season 2 finale of The Mandalorian , and the only 9.9 ever is courtesy of the Clone Wars grand finale. But in terms of overall score? Maul: Shadow Lord has taken the crown over everything else. Yes, even that show. Here’s the list:

  • Maul: Shadow Lord – 8.7/10
  • Andor – 8.6/10
  • The Mandalorian – 8.6/10
  • The Clone Wars – 8.5/10
  • Rebels – 8.1/10
  • Tales of the Jedi – 8.1/10
  • The Bad Batch – 7.8/10
  • Ahsoka – 7.4/10
  • The Book of Boba Fett – 7.1/10
  • Tales of the Empire – 7.0
  • Star Wars: Visions – 7.0/10
  • Skeleton Crew – 7.0/10
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi – 7.0/10
  • The Acolyte – 4.3/10

You can see why Dave Filoni is running Star Wars now. He either created or directed or wrote four of the top 5 entries on the list, his “miss,” perhaps, being Ahsoka, but even that’s okay. He created Maul: Shadow Lord, though he didn’t direct or write the episodes. Still, you get the idea here. The man knows his stuff, and despite some misgivings here and there about his takeover, it seems likely that we’re heading in a good direction going forward. And boy, does Disney Star Wars, especially the film side, need it.

Every show on this list is over, with the exception of Visions, Ahsoka and now, Maul: Shadow Lord, which was renewed for season 2 before season 1 even ended. Disney seems to know what it has here, but I mean, it’s also Dave Filoni’s own created show, so that is no great surprise.

I am currently in the middle of Maul: Shadow Lord myself, loving it as so many have. I have already plowed into a few finale spoilers on Twitter, but the show is so good I don’t really even care. I have not loved The Clone Wars and Rebels as much as others have, as I often found it hard to get past the animation style. Maul , by contrast, is gorgeous, a literal painting brought to life in many sequences. I’m looking forward to finishing up the last half of the season here, and of course, season 2 when it arrives.
