How serious is Floyd Schofield if we’re comparing him to the best fighters in his weight region? Likewise, is Lucas Bahdi a one-hit wonder or a guy who can make noise himself and become a world champion? We’ll get some semblance of an answer to both of those questions on Saturday night in Chicago when Schofield faces Bahdi for the vacant WBA lightweight title. Let’s talk boxing.

Schofield vs. Bahdi Key Facts

Ring walks haven’t been announced. What is set: twelve rounds, Saturday, October 10, live worldwide on DAZN from Wintrust Arena. The promotional subplot is Golden Boy against Jake Paul’s MVP, and Oscar De La Hoya said the quiet part out loud — “nobody builds and develops fighters like Golden Boy.” The co-main has Oscar Collazo moving up from minimumweight to challenge Ricardo Sandoval for the unified WBC and WBA flyweight belts.

Schofield has the look of a star. He’s 19-0, strong and athletic and in his last fight, he delivered a stunning first-round KO win over the experienced and respected Tevin Farmer. That fight happened in June 2025, so he’s been out of the ring for more than a year. He was originally supposed to challenge Gervonta Davis for the title, but Tank was designated as a champion in recess while he battles legal issues.

That puts Schofield in the ring with Bahdi battling for the vacant strap.

Like Schofield, Bahdi is also undefeated at 20-0. The 32-year-old has some serious punching power. That power was on full display when he scored a KO-of-the-Year candidate win over Ashton Sylve in July 2024. That win catapulted Bahdi into better opportunities. In August 2025, he defeated Roger Gutierrez via unanimous decision. That was his last fight, so he too has been out of the ring for a while. Will rust be a factor? Will Schofield have to be careful of falling into the same trap that swallowed Sylve? It’s an interesting fight and battle of unbeaten fighters.
