Canelo Alvarez is an all-time great, but it’s no secret, he struggles with fighters who move well laterally and have defensive styles. William Scull gave him issues in May 2025 and Terence Crawford, whose style is more of a hybrid, defeated Canelo in September 2025. As you might expect, the icon is ready to face someone who is willing to stand and bang. That’s what he has ahead of him in Christian Mbilli, but Canelo seems to believe his upcoming opponent’s style is “too simple.” Let’s talk boxing.

The only blemish on his record came in the form of a draw against Lester Martinez in September 2025 on the undercard of Canelo-Crawford.
