Zwift has released a new version of its Zwift Ride bike, one made to fit a greater range of people, the Zwift Ride V2.

The Zwift Ride V2 looks very similar to the original model but has a slightly different frame design that sees its minimum recommended user height drop from 152cm to 146cm. Both versions put 198cm riders as the upper limit.

This new model helps to explain why the Zwift Ride has been listed as out of stock on the Zwift store in recent days.

Zwift says the Ride V2 has a “more compact” frame, and there some other changes too.

The crank has a completely different design, now bearing five pedal interface holes for five crank length positions. It looks a little less sleek than the original design, but is the equivalent of having 160 mm, 165 mm, 170 mm, 172.5 mm and 175 mm cranks in the box.

Zwift’s Ride V2 has a redesigned seat post as well. It looks similar to the original design, but has “more fore-and-aft adjustability.”

The aim here is clear: to make the bike frame more comfortable for more people. Those who already own the original Ride can upgrade to the new-design crank and seat post, which will be available to buy from Zwift.

There’s no change in the cost of the full setup. You’ll pay $1299.99 for the Zwift Ride V2, and that includes the Wahoo Kickr Core 2 turbo trainer, plus Zwift’s virtual gearing system and handlebar controllers.

It’s likely to offer the V2 frame minus the turbo trainer too, and a healthy selection of trainers are now compatible with the system. Manufacturers on the list include Elite, Wahoo, Tacx , Van Rysel, and Jetblack, alongside the discontinued Zwift Hub.

A Zwift Ride V2 does not include any access to the service itself, which currently costs $19.99 a month.
