The recent IFA technology show in Berlin delivered a feast of premium big-screen projector treats for home cinema fans and gamers alike. I’ve already covered in recent articles the eye-catching efforts of JMGO and AWOL Vision , but now it’s the turn of XGIMI, which made the absolute most of its compact IFA stand by cramming in a while host of eye-catching projector products and ideas. Including an eye-catching ultra-bright passive 3D rig delivered by a pair of immaculately aligned Titan Noir Ultra Max projectors.

The highlight XGIMI’s IFA efforts, though, was the unveiling of its new Aura 3 ultra short throw projectors. The previous two Aura generations have been runaway critical and commercial successes thanks to their combination of excellent picture quality and aggressive pricing, and the new models look set to keep the good times rolling. Especially if you pick one up at a discount through the projectors’ imminent Kickstarter campaign rather than waiting for their full commercial launch.

There are two new Aura 3 models to choose from for people who want cinema-sized (up to 200 inch) images without having to place a projector in the middle of their room: The Aura 3 Max and the Aura 3 Pro. Both are single-chip DLP projectors illuminated by RGB Triple laser light engines, with the main difference between them being that the Max is rated to deliver 5,700 ISO Lumens of brightness while the Pro tops out at 4,100 ISO Lumens.

The new Aura 3s improve on their predecessors by supporting 4K-resolution images at 120Hz refresh rates. We’ve seen projectors in the past that have been able to take in 4K/120Hz, but pre-IFA 2026 no projector released in the U.S and Europe has truly been able to output 4K resolutions at such high, gaming-friendly refresh rates.

Gamers will also enjoy the Aura 3’s support for variable refresh rates and auto low latency mode switching, while home cinema fans will be attracted by the projectors’ new X-Vision AI Image Processor. This has been designed with plenty of AI help to provide better control over the impressive brightness and color punch that XGIMI projectors and the Aura models in particular have become so renowned for.

The Aura 3s carry integrated Google TV smarts, and since they’re able to support both of the Dolby Vision and HDR10+ premium HDR formats, they’re capable of always taking in the best version of any content the many streaming apps on Google TV have to offer.

Native contrast is rated at a very respectable 8,000:1 ratio, raising hopes of a good dark room movie night performance to go with the prospect of the projectors – especially in the Max model’s case – being able to punch through relatively light living room settings thanks to their high brightness.

Aura projectors have always partnered their potent pictures with impressive sound by projector standards, and the Aura 3 looks set to continue that theme thanks to a built-in 80W speaker system designed with renowned audio brand Harmon Kardon that’s capable of playing Dolby Atmos soundtracks.

One last attraction of the Aura 3s is that as well as supporting 3D video playback, they’re going to ship with two pairs of 3D glasses included – a generous touch rarely found elsewhere in today’s projector world.

The Aura 3s are scheduled to go live in Kickstarter campaigns on October 20, with exclusive preorders now open at XGIMI’s website. Anyone who places a $50 deposit there will unlock an extra $200 off the projectors’ purchase price, and receive a launch link via email on October 20 to enable them to complete their Aura 3 projector pledge. Pricing during the Kickstarter campaign will be an extremely aggressive $2,399 for the Max and $2,199 for the Pro.
