When Does 'MobLand' Season 2, Episode 5 Come Out On Paramount+?
MobLand Season 2 returns this Friday with its fifth episode, following last week’s tense installment and an ending that made it very clear Frankie Cooper (Johnny Flynn) isn’t done tormenting Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy) and the Harrigans just yet. Of course, Conrad Harrigan (Pierce Brosnan) isn’t taking it lying down, either. He went in guns blazing last week in one of the most hilarious scenes in the show to date.
Episode 5, titled “Birdland,” finds Conrad declaring war and turning the Cotswolds into a fortress as bodies begin to pile up. Meanwhile, Maeve (Helen Mirren) sends Eddie (Anson Boon) on a top secret mission in Ireland, and Harry tries to unite the family before their enemies wipe them out once and for all.
In other words, business as usual.
Here’s when MobLand Season 2, Episode 5 comes out on Paramount+, what to expect and the complete remaining Season 2 release schedule.
MobLand Season 2 Episode 5 At-A-Glance

What Is MobLand Season 2 Episode 5 About?
Watch the MobLand Episode 5 promo below:
The official synopsis reads:
“Conrad declares war, stacking bodies and turning the Cotswolds into a fortress; Maeve plays puppet-master, sending Eddie on a mission before secrets start to spill, and a hit hurtles the Harrigans into all-out chaos.”
Clearly, the war between Kat/Frankie and Harry and the Harrigans is heating up, and potentially boiling over in Episode 5.
Last week’s “Blank Curtain” was largely about Harry trying to contain the fallout from Frankie’s bombing while the Harrigan family continued to fracture from within. DCI Kavanagh (Ophelia Lovibond) began putting the pieces together about corrupt cop Finch (Warren Brown), forcing Harry to deal with that particular loose end permanently. Seraphina (Mandeep Dhillon), meanwhile, admitted to working with Kat McAllister (Janet McTeer), though Harry sees the potential value in keeping her in play as a double agent. Not a great place to be if you’re Seraphina, caught between a proverbial rock and a hard place, but a sensible – and humane – move on Harry’s part.
Maeve also sent Eddie and Gina (Teddie Allen) off to Ireland on one of her typically mysterious errands, while Conrad discovered still more evidence that his wife has been scheming behind his back.
Then there’s Frankie. Just when Harry thought he had enough problems, Frankie sent him a video of his wife and Jamie in a . . . compromising moment. Frankie was sure to include a cheeky shot of himself filming as a cherry on top.
The Episode 5 synopsis suggests that war is about to get very bloody indeed. Conrad has never been known for restraint, and if he’s turning the Cotswolds into a fortress and “stacking bodies,” one imagines Harry is going to have his hands full cleaning up whatever mess the Harrigan patriarch leaves in his wake. Of course, that depends on what kind of trouble Gina gets into.
Maeve’s maneuvering may be just as dangerous. Whatever she has Eddie doing, it is almost certainly reckless. Maeve is less of a chess master and more a fire juggler, and at this point she may have too many schemes in the air at once.
And then there’s that ominous reference to “a hit” that sends the Harrigans into all-out chaos. Given the number of people currently gunning for this family, that could mean anything.
The episode title, “Birdland,” continues Season 2’s musical naming convention. It appears to reference Patti Smith’s “Birdland,” from her 1975 album Horses , following The Stooges’ “I Wanna Be Your Dog,” Blur’s “Song 2,” The Ramones’ “Bonzo Goes to Bitburg” and “Blank Curtain” by Cola. Episode 6, “A Different Corner,” appears to continue the theme with the George Michael song.

MobLand Season 2 Release Schedule
Unlike some streaming series, and just about everything on Netflix, MobLand won’t arrive all at once. Paramount+ is releasing one new episode every Friday for ten weeks, with the Season 2 finale landing November 20. This means that I’ll be able to review each episode as they come out here on this blog. Be sure to follow along here and on my YouTube channel as I’d love to hear your thoughts on the show as well!
We’ve now officially reached the halfway point of Season 2, with five episodes down and five to go. Episode 6, “A Different Corner,” arrives October 23, followed by four currently untitled episodes leading up to the November 20 finale.
What Happened In MobLand Season 1?
Major spoilers for Season 1 ahead.
Season 1 revolved around the increasingly bloody war between two London crime families: the Harrigans, led by Conrad Harrigan (Pierce Brosnan) and his formidable wife Maeve (Helen Mirren), and the rival Stevenson family, led by Richie Stevenson (Geoff Bell). Caught in the middle was Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy), the Harrigans’ supremely capable fixer and longtime friend of Conrad’s son Kevin (Paddy Considine). Harry’s competency is rivaled only by his saint-like patience, which he must tap into regularly given the nature of his employers.
The uneasy peace between the families collapsed after Kevin’s supposedly wayward son Eddie (Anson Boon) went out partying with Richie’s son Tommy Stevenson. Tommy subsequently disappeared and eventually turned up dead. Harry’s attempts to smooth things over are dashed by Conrad and Maeve’s increasingly erratic leadership. Things . . . escalated rather quickly.
By the finale, Harry discovered that Harrigan attorney O’Hara Delaney was Richie’s mole, having backed what she thought would be the winning horse. Harry turned that betrayal against Richie, luring the Stevensons into an ambush that ended with Richie and O’Hara dead and effectively brought the Harrigan-Stevenson war to a close. But victory only exposed the much more dangerous conflict brewing inside the Harrigan family itself, and invited in new threats from outside to fill the power vacuum.
The Harrigan family tree was one casualty of Season 1’s violence. As Kevin finally confronts his father in prison, asserting his dominance at last, Maeve revealed an enormous family secret to Eddie: Kevin isn’t actually his biological father. Conrad is. And things get twistier still, since Maeve isn’t Eddie’s biological grandmother at all. Eddie is now another potential claimant to the Harrigan empire. Seraphina (Mandeep Dhillon), meanwhile, attracted the attention of the mysterious and extremely powerful Kat McAllister (Janet McTeer) to whom she owes her life, thanks to Harry’s quick thinking.
This placed Harry directly in Kat’s crosshairs, where he found himself facing the kind of offer you can’t refuse: A better job, but only if he’d betray the Harrigans. Harry politely turned Kat down. She was none too pleased.
The season ends on a wild cliffhanger after Harry, victorious, returns home and gets in an argument with his wife Jan (Joanne Froggatt) who accidentally stabs him with a kitchen knife. Harry is left bleeding out as the credits roll.
While the Harrigans technically won their war against the Stevensons, they enter Season 2 divided, vulnerable and surrounded by ambitious enemies, corrupt police and internal strife. Juicy material for a second season, no doubt. The long-suffering Harry will have no time to rest anytime soon.
Is MobLand Worth Watching?
I was a bit late to the show, but I absolutely loved it once I got going and Season 2 is already just as good, and has the potential to be even better. Hardy is a great central protagonist, calmly fixing the myriad problems that both his enemies and employers cause. Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren really steal the show, however, even if their Irish accents are a bit wonky. (Yes, I know Brosnan is Irish, but that is still not his natural accent). Maeve is such a great, wicked, half-mad witch of a character. I love her. I’ve joked that I’d happily play a GTA-style video game starring Conrad and Maeve.
Beyond these three, you have such a fantastic cast. Paddy Considine will always have a special place in my heart for his tremendous role as King Viserys I in House of the Dragon , and he was terrific in Season 1 of MobLand as well.
If you enjoy gritty UK crime dramas, you’d be crazy to miss this one. It’s also ten episodes per season, which is almost twice the length of a normal BBC crime drama (which are usually capped at six episodes). While Guy Ritchie is involved in the series, this is a much darker, more grounded crime drama than Ritchie’s Netflix show, The Gentlemen , and while it’s not as funny, that grounded nature serves it well.
I’ve watched the first five episodes of the show now, and in many ways I’m enjoying Season 2 even more than Season 1, simply because Conrad is even more unhinged and Frankie is such a delightful antagonist. My complaints remain: Jan is annoying, Kat is kind of a bizarre “Big Bad” with her US government connections and Maeve needs more to do than scheme against her own people all the time. Those issues aside, this is some of the most fun I’ve had with a TV show in years.
MobLand Season 2 Full Cast
Here’s the full MobLand cast. Other than a few casualties from the first season’s war, most everyone returns for Season 2.
- Tom Hardy as Harry Da Souza
- Pierce Brosnan as Conrad Harrigan
- Helen Mirren as Maeve Harrigan
- Paddy Considine as Kevin Harrigan
- Joanne Froggatt as Jan Da Souza
- Lara Pulver as Bella Harrigan
- Anson Boon as Eddie Harrigan
- Mandeep Dhillon as Seraphina Harrigan
- Jasmine Jobson as Zosia
- Emmett J. Scanlan as Paul
- Janet McTeer as Kat McAllister
- Toby Jones as Colin Tattersall
- Teddie Allen as Gina Da Souza
Joining the cast this season are Johnny Flynn as Frankie, Ophelia Lovibond as Kavanagh and Mayor of Kingstown star Tobi Bamtefa as Dog. Flynn’s Frankie appears to be the most significant newcomer, emerging as a potentially dangerous new adversary for Harry and the Harrigans. ( Harry and the Harrigans would have made a great name for this show, actually).
When Does MobLand Season 2, Episode 5 Release In Every Time Zone?
Will There Be A MobLand Season 3?
Paramount has already renewed MobLand for a third season. Paramount+ also currently lists the series as renewed for Season 3.
We don’t know when Season 3 will arrive. Season 1 came out in March of 2025 and Season 2 followed roughly 18 months later, which is pretty quick for modern television. With a release cadence like that, we could potentially get Season 3 in late 2027 or early 2028.
Be sure to check back on this blog for my Season 2, Episode 5 review as well as more thoughts on my YouTube channel. I’m also reviewing Apple TV’s excellent UK spy thriller, Slow Horses , and a number of other shows. Like Maeve, I suppose, I am a juggler of TV shows, and have many careening through the air as we speak, but MobLand remains one of my favorites.
