Marvel’s VisionQuest returns this week with two more episodes, continuing the story of Paul Bettany’s Vision as he struggles to understand his identity, recover his humanity and find a new purpose in the MCU. Following last week’s two-part premiere, Episodes 3 and 4 both drop this week on Disney+.
When Do VisionQuest Episodes 3 And 4 Come Out? Disney+ Release Time And Full Episode Schedule
The new episodes, titled “Reboot” and “Malware,” pick up where the premiere left off, with Vision attempting to make sense of his existence while dangerous enemies close in. He’s also wrestling with the various artificial intelligence personalities embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y. (Orla Brady), E.D.I.T.H. (Emily Hampshire) and the far more dangerous Ultron (James Spader). J.A.R.V.I.S. (James D’Arcy) sadly did not survive the Series Premiere.
Vision’s search for meaning has also brought him into contact with a mysterious teenager named Thomas Shepherd (Ruaridh Mollica), who may be the reincarnation of his son Tommy Maximoff. With a bounty on his head and Ultron’s influence threatening to complicate matters further, Vision faces an increasingly dangerous journey.
The series is the third and final installment in Marvel’s WandaVision trilogy, following WandaVision and Agatha All Along . Terry Matalas, best known for his work on Star Trek: Picard and 12 Monkeys , serves as showrunner, while Jac Schaeffer, who created the previous two shows, executive produces.

What To Expect In Episodes 3 & 4
The next two episodes, “Reboot” and “Malware,” continue Vision’s journey as he tries to discover who he really is and what he wants from his strange second life.
One of the show’s central mysteries is the relationship between Vision and Thomas Shepherd. If Thomas really is the reincarnation of Tommy Maximoff, which seems almost certain given the events in Agatha All Along , that raises all sorts of questions about the nature of identity, memory and family, particularly for an android who remembers having a wife and children but doesn’t have the capacity to truly feel for them (or at least that’s what he tells himself).
Ultron is another major wild card. James Spader’s return as the murderous AI is one of the show’s most exciting developments, especially given Ultron’s complicated relationship with Vision and their rather wonderful conversations in last week’s episodes. How much influence does he still have over his creation, and can Vision trust any part of the intelligence responsible for so much death and destruction? Ultron gave some good advice last week and displayed an almost paternal instinct toward Vision, but that certainly doesn’t mean he can be trusted, or that he doesn’t have . . . ulterior motives.
What Happened In The First Two Episodes Of VisionQuest ?
Spoilers follow for Episodes 1 and 2 of VisionQuest .
The two-part premiere introduced us to a very different Vision from the one we knew in WandaVision and the earlier MCU films. This is White Vision, the reconstructed android created by S.W.O.R.D. who regained his original memories at the end of WandaVision but has struggled to reclaim the emotions and humanity that once defined him. The quest in the title, at least in the beginning of the show, is Vision’s quest to understand his original self.
Now living in isolation, Vision finds himself surrounded by representations of the artificial intelligences connected to his past, including J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y. and E.D.I.T.H. Most troubling of all is Ultron, the genocidal AI who originally created Vision’s body in Avengers: Age of Ultron .
The premiere also introduces Thomas Shepherd, a teenager with a mysterious connection to Vision’s past. Thomas may be at least partly Tommy Maximoff, one of Wanda and Vision’s twin sons, whose fate was left unresolved following the events of WandaVision and Agatha All Along .
Meanwhile, Vision has become a target, with the bounty hunter Paladin (Todd Stashwick) pursuing him. Between these external threats and the turmoil inside his own mind, Vision faces a difficult road ahead.

What Should You Watch Before VisionQuest?
The most important series to watch beforehand is WandaVision , which introduced the rebuilt White Vision and ended with him regaining the original Vision’s memories before flying away. Agatha All Along is also relevant, particularly for its exploration of the Maximoff twins and their possible reincarnation.
For additional background, Avengers: Age of Ultron establishes Vision’s creation and his complicated relationship with Ultron, while Avengers: Infinity War depicts his death at the hands of Thanos.
Is VisionQuest Worth Watching?
Watch my video review of VisionQuest ‘s two-part premiere below:
I loved the first two episodes of the show , so the short answer – and the correct answer from a critic you know you can trust to have impeccable taste! – is a resounding “Yes!” I’d say it’s the best Marvel in years, but Wonder Man was also really excellent.
The Rotten Tomatoes score has gone up since last week also with a 90% RT critic score and 84% from audiences.
While this could easily change as more reviews trickle in, right now that places it between Agatha All Along (84%) and WandaVision (92%). WandaVision is one of my favorite MCU shows, along with Loki and Wonder Man , though I ended up really enjoying Agatha All Along as well, warts and all, especially its brilliant finale . I’m excited and a bit nervous to see how it all ends.
Be sure to check back here on this blog and on my YouTube channel for my VisionQuest reviews. I’ll be covering the series each week until its November finale.
