I was introduced to the Warhammer 40,000 universe in 2024 with the absolutely outstanding and underrated Space Marine 2. I’m a sucker for an outstanding third-person action game. While Boltgun 2 is a first-person title, I’ve bought into the universe. Because of Space Marine 2, this one is on my radar. I’ve done my research and here are the 10 things you should know about Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2. Let’s talk video games.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 Key Facts

1. When Does Boltgun 2 Release?

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 launches Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026. Steam lists it as unlocking that day.

We’re dropping on a Wednesday, which is just a little strange, but it is still more than a month ahead of Grand Theft Auto 6.

2. What Platforms Is Boltgun 2 On?

The sequel launches on PC through Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Auroch Digital says a Nintendo Switch 2 version follows shortly after, but no date has been set.

This feels like a title that could be well received on Switch 2. Visually, it fits and the price point is in line with what that community will likely vibe with from day one.

3. How Much Does Boltgun 2 Cost?

Boltgun 2 costs $24.99 on Steam, with a 10% pre-purchase discount to $22.49 through launch day. A Steam bundle with the original Boltgun is listed at $26.17 during pre-purchase.

There are two playable characters. Malum Caedo, an Ultramarine Sternguard Veteran, returns with Rahul Kohli voicing him, and he’s built around heavier, aggressive firepower.

Nyra Veyrath is new. She’s a lighter, quicker Sister of Battle voiced by Alanah Pearce, and each character has unique abilities, weapons and a distinct playstyle.

Veterans of the series might lean toward Malum Caedo.

Caedo and Nyra chase Vashtorr the Arkifane, a daemonic demigod, across several worlds after he awakens a daemonic machine that destroys much of the Imperial fleet. The campaign branches, so your choices determine which levels you play.

If you’ve played Boltgun, the campaign picks up where the previous one left off. That feels like a reward for users who have returned.

6. Where Does Boltgun 2 Take Place?

The sequel adds new biomes, including a colossal hive city, mangrove jungle swamps, frozen battlefields and Death Worlds. Each location brings its own biome challenges.

Visually, this version changes things up with slightly brighter scenery.

7. What Weapons Are in Boltgun 2?

Caedo’s Space Marine arsenal includes a chainsword and a shotgun. Footage shows Nyra using a bolt pistol, power sword, flamer and melta weapons.

Like any sequel, this one offers more weapons and new layers to combat.

8. What Enemies Will You Face?

Nurglings and Chaos Cultists return. New threats include Bloodletters of Khorne, daemonic Juggernauts and Khorne Berzerkers.

Mick Gordon, known for his work on Doom and Wolfenstein, created an original track for the game. It plays during the final boss fight, though he isn’t confirmed as composer of the full soundtrack.

10. What Are the PC Requirements, and Is There a Demo?

Boltgun 2 needs Windows 10 (64-bit), 8 GB of RAM and 13 GB of storage at minimum, targeting 1080p at 60 frames per second on low settings. The recommended spec calls for 16 GB of RAM and targets 1440p at 60 fps on high.

A free demo is available on Steam. It includes a Death World swamp with Nurgle daemons and a frozen battlefield facility.
