Undisputed 2 Update Daniel Dubois, Roberto Duran, Jermain Taylor Added
Undisputed 2 is still coming. Every time you get to a point where you’re wondering if things are still shaking, Steel City Interactive’s studio head Ash Habib takes a seat in a chair, in front of a camera, mic’d up and wearing something boxing fresh and addresses the community.
Habib did just that on Wednesday, September 9 as he assured the game’s community that he and the team love and care about boxing, and that they’re hard at work with the intentions of making the sequel everything the original wasn’t. Habib also announced three new additions to the roster led by reigning heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, who came in for mo-cap. Let’s talk Undisputed.
The Three Fighters Announced
Steel City Interactive ended all support for the first Undisputed earlier this year, cutting off DLC and patches so the entire studio could move to the sequel. The team has grown past 100 employees, with developers arriving from other AAA studios, and Habib has said the sequel is being rebuilt on a new engine with different architecture decisions rather than iterated on the old one. That reset is the reason a roster announcement is the news right now rather than a build.
How Undisputed 2 Got Here
This update didn’t show the game off, but it was good seeing Dubois in studio as well as learning about Roberto Duran and Jermain Taylor coming to the game. Hit detection and improved fighter movement are the biggest areas of opportunity for the game. That’s what those of us who played a lot of Undisputed will be most excited to see and hopeful for in the sequel.
