Ultrahuman has announced a new add-on that lets U.S. users of its smart rings pull all their health and medical records data into the app they use for daily health and fitness monitoring.

The Ultrahuman HealthEx Powerplug is a $4.99 a month upgrade, one that runs off the HealthEx platform. It claims to be able to collate data from “more than 90%” of care providers across the U.S.

It will bring in medication history, appointments information and the details of all the healthcare professionals you’ve had dealings with in the past.

“When seeing patients as a physician, I’d often see individuals at critical moments in their health journey. It could be a challenge to piece together an individual’s complete health history, and too often results in delays in care that could have real consequences,” says HealthEx CEOPriyanka Agarwal.

The Powerplug add-on effectively turns what many might consider a light and fairly fluffy wearables app into a place to use to help stay on top of actual medical treatments.

Ultrahuman is not the first wearables maker to partner with the HealthEx platform, though. Whoop announced such an integration earlier this year, in June. That one doesn’t come with a separate add-on cost like the HealthEx Powerplug, but Ultrahuman rings can be used without ongoing costs, while Whoop’s $199-and-up memberships only offer a year of use.

What Are Ultrahuman Powerplugs?

Powerplugs are a long-standing element of the Ultrahuman platform, allowing smart ring users to get deeper insight in areas beyond the basics. And while the HealthEx Powerplug’s data will often bear only a tangential relationship to your wearables’ stats, the idea is all about accessibility of data, whether that’s for your eyes, those of the healthcare provider or even some form of AI tool.

“In the US, people visit multiple care providers a year, and key follow-ups and tests are missed because nobody has all the information they need,” says Mohit Kumar, Ultrahuman CEO. “Our partnership with HealthEx fundamentally changes that. It puts crucial health records in one place, and adds context to Ring measurements.”

HealthEx joins a cast of existing Ultrahuman Powerplug platform add-ons, not all of which are upgrades to what can be derived directly from a smart ring’s sensors. For example, Tesla Sync tells you how stressed you were during drives, and can suggest driving modes and aircon settings to suit your body condition — plus other “fun and intelligent” fluff.
