The White House has asked U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign in the wake of a series of damning reports, including allegedly asking a Trump ally for $100,000 to pay off her credit card bill.

New White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia told reporters Tuesday, “we have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign. She has been a wonderful asset to the team, and we wish her well.”

Trump said Monday he was considering firing Guilfoyle, who was recently engaged to his oldest son, Donald Trump Jr., telling reporters, “we’re not happy.”

The Wall Street Journal reported last week that Guilfoyle asked Trump donor Eric Deters to wire $100,000 to American Express on her behalf, texting him shortly before her Senate confirmation last year, “honey please I need you to get this done for me today.”

Deters, who refused to make the payment, had allegedly promised Guilfoyle payments of up to $1 million if she could successfully lobby federal officials for leniency regarding personal tax and legal issues he was experiencing, the Journal reported.

A lawyer for Guilfoyle, Jesse Binnall, said she was “owed a balance for traveling” to speak at events, though Deters said he didn’t owe any balance.

The State Department inspector general is investigating whether Guilfoyle used her ambassadorship to receive gifts or favors, according to multiple reports .

The Journal separately reported Guilfoyle bragged at Davos earlier this year that two Greek businessmen were funding her travels, and promised an attendee to “deliver the world to you” and “make you a lot of f—ing money” if he could get her a seat at an exclusive dinner, according to a recording obtained by the paper. Guilfoyle reportedly flew to Davos with Alexadros Exarchou, a Greek construction executive, and encouraged foreign governments to do business with his company. A second businessman, shipping tycoon Nikolas Tsakos, paid for her travel to Paris, including a stay at the Four Seasons and a flight on his private jet.
