Brock Lesnar announced his retirement from WWE "and everything else" last week on an episode of the Pat McAfee Show. Despite some questions as to whether the Beast Incarnate is truly done, all signs continue to point Lesnar having had his last match. The most recent sign was a thank-you post from WWE CCO Paul "Triple H" Levesque on social media. Triple H kept it short and sweet while offering memorable photos of moments the two men shared along the journey. Let's talk wrestling.

Brock Lesnar Retirement Key Facts

  • Announcement: Tuesday, August 4, on The Pat McAfee Show
  • Final match: SummerSlam, Saturday, August 1, U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis
  • Opponent: Oba Femi, Hell in a Cell
  • Result: Femi became the first person to beat Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell
  • Age: 49
  • WWE tenure: 26 years
  • Post-match: Lesnar raised Femi's hand and left the ring in tears
  • WWE response: Moved to the alumni section, career retrospective aired on Raw
  • Also paid tribute: Roman Reigns, on social media

Lesnar's career in WWE spans 26 years. He is seemingly a shoo-in for the WWE Hall of Fame and could be inducted as soon as 2027 when the ceremony is set to take place in Saudi Arabia. Lesnar's final three matches took place against Oba Femi, the man dubbed as the newest "next big thing." Lesnar put Femi over in the first meeting in what amounted to mostly a squash match.

Lesnar got revenge in the second meeting, thereby making the rubber match necessary. Femi defeated Lesnar at SummerSlam earlier this month and the torch was passed.

The setting was not incidental. SummerSlam ran in Minneapolis, where Lesnar wrestled in college, and Dave Meltzer reported the plan had always been to retire him there. Lesnar told the crowd he was the past and Femi was the future.

Brock Lesnar's final three matches

Per WWE records and contemporaneous reporting.

  • WrestleMania 42 , April 2026 — Oba Femi def. Brock Lesnar. Lesnar left his gloves and boots in the ring; WWE moved him to the alumni section.
  • Clash in Italy , May 2026 — Brock Lesnar def. Oba Femi.
  • SummerSlam , August 1, 2026 — Oba Femi def. Brock Lesnar, Hell in a Cell.

All things considered, Femi is the perfect guy to take the mantle from Lesnar as the biggest, baddest dude in professional wrestling.
