French loudspeaker maker Triangle has announced the launch of Solstice, an all-new loudspeaker range to succeed the company’s long-running Esprit series. See what they did there, launching the day after June 21?

Developed and manufactured in the delightfully named Soissons, France, the Solstice Series is built on an entirely new technical platform, featuring a redesigned horn tweeter, new driver architecture, revised cabinet construction and an original integrated base design.

For more than three decades, the Triangle Esprit range earned a reputation for high sensitivity, natural tonal balance and great value for money. The launch of Solstice marks the next chapter in the company’s history, introducing new technologies throughout the loudspeaker while keeping with the musical character typical of the brand’s designs.

Unlike the evolutionary development of previous Esprit generations, Solstice has been redesigned from the ground up. Triangle says that every major component has been re-engineered, with particular attention being paid to frequency coherence, cabinet rigidity and the reduction of unwanted coloration.

The Solstice Series will launch with three models designed to work together as a traditional stereo pair or as a home theater system. The speakers share common drivers, crossover principles and cabinet architecture. They will be available in white, black, teak and birch finishes, along with matching stands.

The Solstice 8 is a three-way bass-reflex floorstanding speaker with a 25mm horn tweeter, 16cm cellulose midrange driver and two 16cm concave-cone woofers. The frequency range starts at a rumbling 38Hz and goes all the way up to 22kHz with 130W RMS power handling. Dual terminals support the options of bi-wiring or bi-amping. Recommended room size is 15 to 50m².

The Solstice 3 is a two-way bass-reflex bookshelf with a 25mm horn tweeter and 16cm cellulose midrange driver. The frequency range is 48Hz to 22kHz with 90W RMS power handling. The cabinet base is designed to integrate directly with Triangle’s S05 stand. Recommended room size ranges from 10 to 35m².

The Solstice C3 is a two-way sealed center-channel speaker that uses a 25mm horn tweeter and twin 16cm cellulose midrange drivers. Frequency range starts at 50Hz and goes up to 22kHz with 120W RMS power handling. At 92dB sensitivity, the C3 is closely matched to the Solstice 8 and Solstice 3, ensuring a consistent tonal balance across the front soundstage.
