It’s Wordle Wednesday. Here’s your riddle:

You’re trapped in a room with no doors, no windows. Just four walls, the floor and a ceiling. The only other things in the room are a desk and a mirror. How do you get out?

“Wispy” comes from wisp + -y . Wisp appeared in Middle English meaning a small bundle or handful of hay, straw, or similar material, probably of Scandinavian origin. Wispy developed the sense of something thin, delicate, or straggling—like wispy hair or clouds.

SCALE was quite a solid opening guess, and even HOIST slashed the remaining 88 words down to 4. But sometimes 4 is still too many, what with the 25% chance you have to guess correctly — and you don’t even know, at this point, that you only have four words, since you don’t find that out until the Wordle Bot analysis later. I took a big risk with RISKY and was left with only one possibility: WISPY for the win!

The Bot and I tied with four so a big fat zero points for each of us.

Today’s Bonus Custom Wordle

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!
