Dreame, once a robot vacuum specialist but now seemingly ubiquitous in anything with a plug, is taking its robot lawn mower ambitions up a gear at IFA 2026, unveiling the A4 AWD Pro Series.

The new flagship range promises to solve one of the biggest frustrations with robotic mowing… the bits that get missed.

It boasts a swing-out cutting arm designed to get the mower right up against walls, fences, flower beds and other lawn boundaries, with Dreame claiming it can achieve 0cm edge cutting without you having to get the weed whacker out of the shed at all.

The new EdgeMaster 4.0 system allows the cutting disc tucked underneath the mower to extend outwards as it approaches the edge of your lawn.

Dreame tells us that dedicated side sensors help the mower follow boundaries, while keeping a safe distance from obstacles, allowing the cutting disc to reach areas that conventional robot mowers tend to leave behind.

It’s also designed to deal with awkward corners and curved edges.

Dreame’s new OmniSense 4.0 system combines 360-degree 3D LiDAR, RTK positioning, binocular cameras and side-mounted edge sensors to navigate gardens without the need for a boundary wire.

The Chinese company claims the system has a detection range of up to 70 meters and can position itself with centimeter-level accuracy, with the different sensors working together to handle open lawns, obstacles and more complex garden layouts.

Dreame states the A4 AWD Pro can climb slopes of up to 42 degrees, tackle obstacles up to 6.5cm high and cross potholes up to 10cm deep.

There’s also a new AeroTurn active steering system, which uses servo-driven front caster wheels to help the mower turn more tightly and navigate obstacles without tearing up the grass.

Whether the reality lives up to Dreame’s zero manual trimming claim remains to be seen, but getting rid of the need to regularly strim around the edge of your lawn would solve a pretty big pain point of a rapidly expanding area of consumer tech.

Albeit with a pretty hefty price-tag.

The A4 AWD Pro Series will arrive in selected markets in the first half of 2027, with prices starting at €2,999 - US pricing is still TBC.
