The Patch Notes For Destiny 2’s Final Hotfix Ever
Technically, Destiny 2 ended with its final Monument of Triumph update, its last true content addition after it was announced the game was reaching end-of-service after nearly eight years. But an addendum to that was that all support for the game, short of servers being shut off, was over. That endpoint is today, in what will be the last hotfix in Destiny 2 history , barring anything utterly catastrophic.
The patch was delayed due to the mass layoffs that cut hundreds of devs and essentially the entire Destiny 2 team, including contractors who were supposed to be testing and implementing it. But it did make it out in the end, perhaps with no wild changes, but a few last fixes that needed addressing. And so far as we know, this is it, forever.
What was added in the hotfix? Here’s a rundown of the patch notes:
- Reputation – Increased the reputation gains from Vanguard and Crucible Ops activities.
- Crucible – Corrected suspension timers for players. Fixed out-of-bounds Meltdown exploits to re-enable the map. Fixed availability of new Trials Ghost shells from the flawless chest.
- Pantheon – Fixed the issue where Divinity could deal damage to Insurrection Prime outside of the damage phase. Divinity now cannot be used at all in the encounter now as a part of this fix (one of the disadvantages of no more time for future hotfixes). They also reverted the remote tether functionality in Consecrated Mind that players wanted to see returned.
- Duality – Master Duality is now correctly available.
- Deep Stone Crypt – Fixed death elevators
- Seraph’s Shield – Also fixed death elevators
- Armor Fixes – Titan Flamecaller Gauntlet ornament and Warlock’s Lightguard Robes no longer block visibility.
- Armor Focusing – Can now focus Trials New Demotic armor. Players can now focus Iron Banner Iron Panoply armor if they hadn’t acquired it in past seasons.
- Weapon Focusing – Can now focus Backfang Glaive at the Drifter
- Hunter Abilities - Fixed an issue where Phantom Surge would fail to hit or trigger perks on targets that were weakened or tethered while Stylish Executioner was active.
- Titan Abilities - Fixed an issue where some projectiles and abilities could pass through Ward of Dawn in PvP.
- Currency – All accounts can now get new Chronolog earnings, fixing an acquisition bug from Ash and Iron. Accounts will be compensated, check vault for Chronologs.
- Artifacts – Pack Tactics artifact perk no longer causes performance issues during long sessions.
- General – Sunflower Vintage shader now usable. Sparrow Match history now appears correctly on Bungie.net. Fixed unclaimable currencies in Seasonal Archive.
That’s…it. I mean, that’s a lot, given the decimation that Bungie just went through, but as you can see, it’s not exactly everything ailing the game. Even if there could be more dire emergency bug fixes, we will get no more balance patches for gear or weapons, no more quality of life changes. That is over now. Everything is over, in effect.
Still, players are playing. And I have a feeling many will be for a long, long time.
