The Cavinder Twins Are Launching A Ready-To-Drink Margarita
They might have started out building other people’s brands, but today the Cavinder Twins are focused on building their own business empire. In August, they launched Go Two , a new wellness brand that smashed records for its operating partner.
This time, they’re launching a new ready-to-drink margarita with Azucar that’s made with 100% Blue Agave Blanco Tequila, real fruit, and agave nectar. Available in Classic Lime, Spicy Lime, and Passion Fruit, the margaritas are vegan and gluten-free, coming in at 180 calories and 5.5% ABV.
“We wanted to create something that felt true to how people actually drink,” said Haley Cavinder. “There are so many options out there, but we saw an opportunity to bring innovation into the category while still keeping it easy, refreshing and fun.”
“This is a drink for the people we know and spend time with. Whether we’re at a game, hanging with friends or outside all day,” added Hanna Cavinder. “We wanted Azúcar to feel like it belongs in those moments, and with the community we’ve built along the way.”
The twins say their involvement with the brand came from a relationship they built with New York businessman Adam Weitsman, who owns Azúcar. As Creative Directors, the twins will focus on everything from storytelling and social content to activations and events. The twins have also taken equity positions in the company.
“It really started with what Hanna and I have learned from a very young age about networking and building relationships,” Haley said. “Adam Weitsman came to us and asked us if we wanted to be co-founders and really have creative control over social media, what it was going to look like, how we were going to sell it audience-wise, and that’s kind of how it came into fruition today.”
“We taste tested so many different flavors to find what went well together,” Hanna said. “Haley and I are a big ranch water girls, so it’s going to be very fun when it all comes together."
The twins agree their NIL experience gave them invaluable experience in marketing, engaging audiences, and growing brands.
“Partnering with companies and learning their strategies with things like their photo shoots, and timing, and different things they want in the market space, you’re constantly learning,” said Hanna.
Haley says they’ve also learned to be patient and partner with the right people.
“We have the understanding that nothing is going to happen overnight. Being a co-founder of a company is really about having people in your corner that all have the same vision and goal.”
Azúcar currently has a Texas-first strategy, focusing on Dallas and Austin for initial retail distribution.
“Texas is just the starting point,” said Weitsman. “We didn’t build Azúcar to be another brand in a crowded RTD aisle. We built it to be best in class, period. Bringing Haley and Hanna in as Creative Directors was about pairing a genuinely great product with people who understand this consumer because they live it. I’m incredibly proud of the team we’ve built and what we’re creating together. We’re just getting started.”
The brand plans to expand across Texas next, and nationally consumers in most states can purchase online .
