One UI 8.5 Feature List: What Will The Update Bring To Your Galaxy Phone?

All One UI 8.5 users can expect a refreshed design with floating pill-shaped menus. There are also more customization options on the Quick Panel and Lock Screen, alongside new AirDrop compatibility via Quick Share.

The headline features are the new AI tools , although they won’t come to every device. Samsung is bringing enhanced Photo Assist, Audio Eraser, Creative Studio, and Call Screening to Galaxy S and foldable phones released after 2024 (the Galaxy S24 series and above). These features initially debuted on the Galaxy S26 series earlier this year.

For Galaxy S23 users and below, the major new AI tool in One UI 8.5 is the newly intelligent Bixby (powered by Perplexity), which can now understand natural language to find features or change settings on the phone when asked. However, it doesn’t look like Galaxy S23 users will receive the other new AI tools, which might be bad news for the phone’s trade-in price going forward.
