After months of beta testing and stability fixes, Samsung has officially confirmed the stable One UI 9 rollout for the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra, with the update bringing 11 confirmed new features ( some of which were exclusive to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 ) to millions of Galaxy phones.

The rollout starts with the Galaxy S26 series today, with Samsung confirming the update will gradually expand to other Galaxy devices. A rollout schedule from Samsung Thailand reveals the Galaxy S25 series and Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are expected to follow on later this month, with older handsets getting the update soon after.

The 11 New Features Confirmed By Samsung

Galaxy S26 users are getting a suite of new tools in One UI 9, some of which debuted in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series when they launched in July. Here’s what’s coming.

My FanCam - automatically tracks a selected person in a recorded video and keeps them centred, reframing footage as the scene moves. Film a crowd and come back later to spotlight one person in the Gallery app.

Generative and Editable Cards in Now Brief - let users customise their daily summary, creating cards across health, weather and video content.

Warranty and Care - moves device support directly into Settings. Users can now check warranty coverage, run self-diagnostics, view repair estimates and book a service in the Settings menu.

Now Nudge - makes context-aware suggestions in messaging apps. For example, if someone you’re texting with suggests going for a meal, Now Nudge will prompt to open maps or make a calendar note.

Creative Studio - now suggests image-generation ideas based on upcoming events. For example, creating a celebration themed greetng for someone’s birthday.

Interpreter - now comes with Thread View for following translated conversations, faster translation in Conversation Mode and quicker playback with compatible Galaxy Buds.

Document Scan - has been updated to handle curved book pages and corner-folded papers with less manual adjustment.

Voice Recorder - includes improved summaries in a clearer structured format using headings and tables.

Security Brief - has added malware alerts, unknown source warnings and unnecessary permission flags directly into Now Brief.

Privacy Alerts - uses on-device AI to identify potential privacy risks, including background permission access attempts.

Scam Detection - expands to additional countries and languages, bringing protection against potential scam calls to more Galaxy device owners.

When Is Your Samsung Galaxy Phone Getting One UI 9?

Samsung’s Global Newsroom hasn’t confirmed when One UI 9 will come to older Galaxy phones, but a press release from Samsung Thailand (spotted by Tarun Vats) reveals that, in Thailand at least, the update will roll out to the Galaxy S25 series on September 28th. Where as the Galaxy S23FE will get the One UI 9 in October.

Samsung has also confirmed the update is expected to gradually roll out to other Galaxy devices beyond these. The Galaxy S24, S23, and A-series devices are all currently in beta and should see the stable update in the next couple of months.

To check if your update is ready: go to Settings, Software Update, Download and Install. If you’re enrolled in the beta programme, check Samsung Members for the latest build.
