When Is Rolly Romero Vs. Teofimo Lopez?

Saturday, August 22. The pay-per-view broadcast opens at 8 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. PT, with the main event walking later in the night depending on how the undercard runs.

Where Is The Fight, And How Can You Watch?

T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, which makes this a hometown defense for Romero. The card streams as a joint pay-per-view on both DAZN and Prime Video, an unusual split that came out of the new PBC and DAZN partnership. DAZN Ultimate subscribers get access through their existing plan.

What Is At Stake For Both Fighters?

This is a huge fight for Lopez. He often talks about the "Takeover" and pumps up his skills, but truthfully, the only strong performance he's had since 2022 is his unanimous-decision win over Arnold Barboza Jr. on the same card that Romero dropped and defeated Garcia.

Lopez needs to show well and win to keep from losing some shine. Romero is a fighter who's known by hardcores, but not as much to more casual fans. He proved he could work a disciplined game plan against Garcia, and that he carries a real punch even above the lightweight division. However, if Lopez is right, he presents some movement and angles that could cause the champion issues.

There is history between the two men. The two sparred together for years and were once close before the friendship soured, and Lopez’s father and trainer traded shots with Romero’s camp throughout the launch press conference. Romero even talked about a time when Lopez gave him $5K out of the blue because he knew he was down financially.

In the ring, Romero's trainer Ismael Salas has framed the matchup as a near-perfect style clash, pointing at how often Lopez comes forward with his chin exposed.

A win puts Lopez in his third weight class as a titleholder. A loss leaves him with one meaningful victory across four years.

The co-feature pairs undefeated Cuban middleweight Yoenli Hernandez, 10-0 with nine knockouts, against Argentina’s Francisco Daniel Veron at 17-1-1 with 10 knockouts over 10 rounds. PBC has also announced an interim title defense and a U.S. debut for one of its younger prospects, filling out the four-fight pay-per-view.
