Texas Attorney General and GOP Senate nominee Ken Paxton attended a New Year’s Eve party in 2024 with his alleged mistress and two fugitives in Dubai, according to the Wall Street Journal —the latest revelations about Paxton’s affiliation with accused criminals and a jetsetting lifestyle.

Paxton and his girlfriend, who is not his wife, Tracy Duhon, partied in Dubai with two American fugitives indicted on healthcare-fraud charges in the U.S., The Wall Street Journal reported, citing a video it viewed showing Paxton and Duhon at the party and court records and sources familiar.

One of the fugitives, healthcare executive Anosh Ahmed, donated $190,000 to Paxton, including $25,000 days after he was indicted, according to the Journal.

He and Sameer Suhail were indicted on federal charges in Illinois in 2024 accusing them of embezzling $15 million from a Chicago hospital where Ahmed worked as the chief financial officer.

Ahmed, who reportedly has business interests in Texas, was later indicted in a $195 million Covid-19 fraud scheme; he has pleaded not guilty.

Both are back in the U.S., and Ahmed is in custody.

A lawyer for Suhail, Adam Sheppard, said he was initially unable to travel to face charges due to civil matters in Dubai, and Ahmed’s attorney said his return was delayed by family health issues, the Journal reported.

Paxton spokesperson Nick Maddux told the Journal in response to the report, “like President Trump, Ken Paxton has been politically persecuted for years, and every time, voters have seen through it and sent him back to office because they know he has always fought for Texas,” though Maddux reportedly did not address the new allegations in the Journal report.

Ken Paxton’s wife of 38 years, Texas state Sen. Angela Paxton, filed for divorce last year, citing extramarital affairs. She appeared in an ad urging people to vote for Republicans in this year’s midterm election, but did not mention her husband. “It’s not as much about the individual players on the team, it’s about getting the whole team across the finish line,” she said in the ad funded by Senate Republicans.

Paxton’s political career has survived criminal fraud charges, bribery allegations, an impeachment and revelations about his lavish travels. He has not faced an election, however, since his wife filed for divorce. In recent months, new allegations about Paxton’s travels have surfaced, including an Associated Press report that he’s cost taxpayers $1.9 million in security expenses related to more than 275 out-of-state trips he’s taken since he’s elected. He attended the Masters golf tournament last year, and from 2022-2024, traveled to the Caribbean, Israel, India, Taiwan, South Africa, Europe at least three times and five ski towns in the Rocky Mountains. Most polls show his Democratic opponent, James Talarico, beating him by a narrow margin in November.
