Onimusha fans, the game you waited more than a decade for dropped earlier this month, and by most accounts, it’s as good as most hoped. It has an 86 Metacritic score while IGN rated it a 10 out of 10. So what’s the deal with its Early Adopter deal considering the release of the game was originally set for September 25, but was moved up three weeks? Let’s talk video games.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword Early Adopter Bonus Key Facts

The bonus closes September 25 at 7:59 p.m. ET, which Capcom lists as 8:59 a.m. JST on September 26. Capcom applies it to the digital version of the game. Players who kept their demo save data also receive a separate charm, Kubi Akari, in the full game.

Early Adopter Bonus by Edition

Per Capcom’s edition listings.

The way Capcom approached this early-adopter showed a great deal of confidence in their product. They essentially allowed fans to wait to read reviews, watch gameplay videos on YouTube and more while still qualifying for the kind of extras that are normally reserved for people who pay blindly in advance.

Whether it was an accident or not, the move forward seems to have created a better launch promotion for the game. That’s a huge accomplishment for a game that was probably trying to get as far away from Grand Theft Auto 6 as possible.

Adding the stat-affecting charms make the bonus bigger as it’s not simply a cosmetic DLC offering. If you’re really sold on what you’ve seen from Onimusha, the Deluxe could be the way for you. After all, you get twice the extras that the Standard Edition buyers receive.
