Pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo has surged back to the pinnacle of the Billboard 200, propelled significantly by a strategic collaboration with her longtime confidante and fellow chart-topper, Chappell Roan.

Rodrigo’s third studio record, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, successfully recaptured the chart's premier position, unseating Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl. This milestone secures Rodrigo her third nonconsecutive week leading the esteemed ranking, industry data confirms.

The album's triumphant resurgence was heavily catalyzed by the rollout of Rodrigo’s “Expectations” remix featuring Roan, which injected massive momentum into the project's streaming figures. Coupled with a striking visual companion released on October 15, 2026, the music video quickly surpassed 21 million views on YouTube.

The creative alliance between the two artists runs deep, tracing back to a 2018 friendship. Roan previously supported Rodrigo as an opening act on both her 2022 Sour Tour and the 2024 Guts World Tour.

According to figures provided by music analytics firm Luminate and published by Billboard, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love accumulated 75,000 equivalent album units across the U.S. for the tracking week ending October 22—representing a 15% bump from the previous frame. Streaming-equivalent units accounted for 63,000 of that sum, marking a 19% increase, while tracks from the record pulled in a staggering 67.14 million official on-demand streams.

This latest triumph arrives just over four months after the 23-year-old's record originally debuted at No. 1 in June. The project previously logged two consecutive weeks at the apex and has maintained a firm grip inside the top five throughout its entire 19-week chart run.

Taylor Swift’s The Life Of A Showgirl Slips From The Summit

Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl retreated from the No. 1 spot down to No. 5 on the fresh Billboard 200 tally, registering 42,000 equivalent album units—a 52% reduction compared to the prior week.

Initially launched last October, The Life of a Showgirl experienced a major commercial revival following the September 25 release of its deluxe expansion, The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore. That expanded iteration introduced four fresh cuts, namely “Babylon,” “Pink Clouding,” “Cleveland!,” and the Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper “Patient Zero.”

The cinematic visual for “Patient Zero,” helmed by Swift herself, debuted at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, an evening where Swift also made history as the inaugural recipient of the Artist Director Honor. The video features prominent appearances by Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell.

The deluxe package previously drove the album back to the summit earlier in the month, where it defended the top position for an additional week with 87,000 equivalent units for the week ending October 15, bringing its total to 15 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1.

Zach Bryan Launches New EP Onto The Charts

Rodrigo’s ascent coincides with the arrival of Zach Bryan’s eight-track EP, Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs, which bowed at No. 2 with 65,500 equivalent album units. Featuring joint efforts alongside Lana Del Rey and the Turnpike Troubadours, the EP delivers Bryan his sixth career top 10 entry on the Billboard 200.

Rounding out the upper tier, Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem held firm at No. 3, trailed by Ella Langley’s Dandelion at No. 4 and Swift’s descending project at No. 5.

The complete Billboard 200 chart update for October 31 is scheduled for public release on the organization's official digital platform on Tuesday, October 27.
