We’re underway with Noche UFC in Glendale, Arizona. There are 13 fights on tap and every fighter made weight. Stay with me from the first prelim up to the main event featuring Jean Silva and Jose Miguel Delgado.

Fight 4 - Tommy Gantt def. Drakkar Klose via Submission (third round - Reverse Triangle)

Gantt made this look easy. He steamrolled Klose with dominant MMA wrestling and then turned up the heat in the third, chasing the submission. Gantt got the finish with a reverse triangle. Some of the bad blood from the weigh-ins spilled over as Gantt taunted Klose after the tap.

Fight 3 - Rongzhu def. Rafa Garcia via unanimous decision (29-28x3)

Rongzhu’s overall striking acumen was the difference in this fight. In the first two rounds, he was simply slicker than Garcia, who struggled closing the distance without eating shots.

Rongzhu slowed down in the third and even avoided exchanges late, but he’d already banked two rounds.

Fight 2 - Sean King III def. Jessie Rosas via KO (First Round - Slam)

King knows how to make an entrance. He was originally supposed to fight on Dana White’s Contender Series, but he was flipped to this card on nine-days notice, and he didn’t disappoint. King scores a 33-second win on this powerful slam. King is just 22 years old.

Fight 1 - Regina Tarin def. JJ Aldrich via Unanimous Decision (29-28x3)

The 21-year-old Tarin got off to a slow start in the first round as she attempted to find her range, but she turned up the pressure in the second round. Her length, youth and fire appeared to be the deciding factors as she remained undefeated.

Aldrich might officially be in low-level gatekeeper status at this point in her career. Tarin may land in the Top 15 next week. She has room for improvement, but her combination of fighting spirit and personality make her a potential mainstay on Noche UFC cards, and perhaps even more.

Silva believes he deserves a title shot at featherweight if he defeats Delgado. He may need to win impressively to get his wish. Meanwhile, the Alexa Grasso vs. Manon Fiorot fight could be a title eliminator in the women’s flyweight division. With Valentina Shevchenko stripped of the title due to injury, many of the fighters she has already defeated — Fiorot and Grasso included — could have new life as they attempt to challenge the winner of Natalia Silva vs. Wang Cong at UFC 332.
