Marvel's Wolverine — Release Date And 10 Things You Should Know
The last time I was this excited to play a single-player game was when God of War Ragnarok released. Yes, the release of Marvel’s Wolverine is that serious. The gameplay released by Insomniac Games has done nothing but heightened the anticipation. Here’s the 10 things you should know before the release.
Marvel’s Wolverine: Key Facts
1. When Is The Release Date?
We’re just two weeks away, and release date is a week after my birthday. This is going to be a gift to self.
It launches worldwide September 15, 2026. Standard is $69.99, Digital Deluxe $79.99, with a $10 upgrade path.
2. Does Marvel’s Wolverine Have Early Access?
You’d think there would be an early access period, but there isn’t.
Pre-ordering unlocks the Classic Brown Suit and Reflective Claws early, plus one Technique Point and four PlayStation avatars. Nobody plays before the 15th.
3. What Platforms Is It On?
With so much DLSS 5, I almost feel cheated when a game isn’t released on PC these days. As it is, everything I’ve seen from Wolverine on PS5 Pro looks great. It’s PlayStation or bust at launch.
PS5 and PS5 Pro only. No PS4 version, and no PC release announced for launch. Pro owners get PSSR support.
4. Is Marvel’s Wolverine Open World?
I don’t know about you, but I think the world is goin to get their fill of open-world action in November when Grand Theft Auto 6 drops. I’m glad Wolverine isn’t open world.
PlayStation confirms it directly . Logan still reaches Canada, Japan and Madripoor, but the structure is directed rather than sandbox.
5. What Is The Story About?
I’m interested in exploring the story in this one as much as the action.
Logan has been away from Team X for three years when Bolivar Trask starts abducting mutants for a human-supremacist agenda. Jean Grey plays a significant role.
Mr. Sinister, Omega Red and Deathstrike are welcomed inclusions as they aren’t overused Marvel villains.
Sabretooth and Mystique sit among Logan’s connections rather than his threats. The Reavers and The Hand round out the confirmed opposition.
7. How Does The Combat Work?
I’ve been playing close attention to the combat systems, and it looks simple enough with some hidden layers.
Claws, kicks and Critical Strikes build a three-tier Rage meter that raises Logan’s lethality. Last Stand leans on the Healing Factor.
8. Can You Build Your Own Wolverine?
Every action game seems to have some level of character building and upgrades. Why would Wolverine be any different?
Dozens of Adaptations cover bullet resistance, Rage effectiveness and parry windows, and four Special Techniques equip at once.
9. How Many Suits And Claws Are There?
A big piece of the Spider-Man titles from Insomniac was the collection of costumes. While Wolverine has some interesting different looks, that concept doesn’t run as deep with the character as it does with Spider-Man.
Confirmed looks draw on Weapon X, Old Man Logan, Ultimate Wolverine and Patch, the Madripoor alias. Claw designs unlock separately.
10. What Is Available At Launch?
Wolverine is violent and I love that they don’t apologize for it. I can also appreciate the fact that you can opt-out of that piece of the action.
The Nightmare Cabin holds New Game Plus, Mission Replay and Nightmare Challenges. Photo Mode arrives day one alongside 35 accessibility options.
