4. A Separate Arcade Edition lands Aug. 6

For those who care, Madden Arcade Edition is coming to Apple. It arrives on Apple Arcade and was built for the service rather than ported down. That’s good and it also means EA believes there’s real upside in this version.

EA calls it the biggest change it has ever made to player behavior, negotiations, weekly management, news and free agency, with every NFL athlete carrying a distinct personality that drives motivations, demands and reactions.

6. What New Offseason Details Are in Madden 27 Franchise Mode?

Contract talks, weekly management and free agency are the three areas where the mode has felt scripted for years. That’s precisely where the engine is pointed, which makes it the single feature worth judging the game on. The persona engine leans into giving everyone and everything a mind of its own. If the goal is achieved, your league and your offseason will feel like the NFL’s world of multiple moving parts.

What Changes On The Field in Madden 27?

7. The War in the Trenches Has Gotten a Boost

Reworked receiver and defensive back battles, new short-yardage mechanics, coverage improvements and a new set of pre-play settings and controls.

8. The Madden 27 Visuals Are Stellar

Graphically, both EA football games look stellar, so you can rest assure you will get a premium visual experience.

From a gameplay standpoint, football is a really hard game to make. Think about this, the more character collisions, and the more characters on the screen, the harder it will be for any engine to catch every detail and nuance in gameplay.

That said, I'm pleased with on the on-field feel of the college experience, and it is an accurate precursor to what we'll see in Madden. The two games play different, but similarly the same way the real-life products are similar.

No Legends in Franchise And The Missing Link With College Football

9. Legends Are Still Locked In Ultimate Team

I cannot for the life of me understand why EA is still locking legends in Ultimate Team and not allowing to be unlocked or even purchased for offline modes. It's bewildering.

I would literally pay for a legends pass that unlocked all past players in offline modes. I’m not sure why EA won’t sell it to me. Instead, it creates unnecessary animosity toward Ultimate Team.

10. You Still Can't Import Draft Classes From College To Madden

I don't totally blame EA for the inability to export draft classes from college to Madden. The licensed players and NIL concept revived the college game, but complicated features like this beloved one. However, if EA is truly dedicated to delivering the cohesive, logical and fun American football ecosystem that they appear to be creating, unlocking the keys to this feature is imperative.

Road to Glory Legacy Scores do carry into Madden's Superstar mode on draft day, so something crosses over. Draft classes are the piece that doesn't.
