Love movies and the latest Samsung smartphone tech? Got more money than you know what to do with? Well, lucky for you then that luxury brand Caviar, maker of customized, jewelry-encrusted smartphones, has released three hand-crafted versions of the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Fold8 Ultra devices featuring the iconic cinematic faces of Marlon Brando as Don Vito Corleone from The Godfather (1972), Al Pacino as Tony Montana from Scarface (1983), and Heath Ledger as The Joker from The Dark Knight (2008).

Note that these aren’t just cases that are made for your phone. These are carefully handcrafted versions of the devices, with the back panels featuring hand-painted portraits of the cinematic icons, created using rare hot cloisonné enamel, framed by delicate 24-karat gold-plated contours. Obviously.

This is why the Samsung Z-Fold8 set you back a minimum of US$12,560 each, and that’s for the base 256GB version of each device and the Z-Fold 8 starts at $12,990. 512GB and 1TB versions of the phones are also available, and frankly, you might as well go for the latter if you’re worried about being extravagant; these are probably not the phones for you.

You’d better hurry though as the Caviar movie legends collection will be just 19 pieces per design worldwide, making them almost as hard to get hold of as IMAX 70mm tickets for The Odyssey .

So would you buy a Caviar movie-themed case? While I wouldn’t want to stop anyone expressing their love for these characters and movies, and far be it from me to tell anyone how to spend their money, but I do feel that only newly-minted footballers and despotic dictators would go for these, or at least somebody who has the cash and wants to be either of those two things.

And while I get the three choices made, I do think Caviar has missed a trick as I noted Peter Parker sporting a Samsung Galaxy X Fold device in the just-released Spider-Man Brand New Day — maybe Tom Holland on one side and Spider-Man on the other? I would be tempted myself, but then again on opening night I decided against buying the cool-looking Spider-Man head popcorn holder as the £29.99 cost was a bit out of my budget. Maybe Caviar has instalment plans?
