Krafted Launches Ultra-Slim Laptop Power Bank For Day-Long Power
Consumer technology company Krafted recently launched the Edge, an ultra-slim and high-capacity power bank specifically designed for recharging and powering laptops like Apple’s MacBook range, including the MacBook Neo. As well as being small enough to sit under a laptop. The Edge offers a slimmer way of powering a laptop instead of using conventional chunky power banks. Whether you’re between flights or between takes, a laptop running out of juice can mean the difference between meeting deadline or not. The Edge delivers a genuine 65W of power, enough to take most laptops from empty to full without the need to hunt for a power outlet.
Following a Kickstarter campaign, Krafted attracted 652 backers for the Edge, raising more than £78,000 for its development and surpassing the original funding target by over 1,500%. Krafted says the Edge “redefines portable laptop power for digital nomads, business commuters and content creators.”
Unlike conventional power banks, which are often thick, heavy and slightly awkward to pack, the Krafted Edge was specifically designed with a sleek, low-profile aluminum construction that’s slim enough to slip into a laptop sleeve, briefcase or backpack, alongside a MacBook or Ultrabook.
The Edge is 10mm at its thickest point. The lightweight chassis lays flat under most modern laptops and tablets. With fast-charging Power Delivery speeds via USB-C, the Edge is designed to supply sufficient wattage to power and charge laptops, tablets and smartphones throughout a working day.
To ensure the Edge can last for a working day, Krafted used high-density and rechargeable battery cells that are optimized to extend a laptop’s runtime and provide multiple full recharges for a range of mobile devices.
As well as shipping with a stowable USB-C charging cable, the Edge has dual USB-C and USB-A ports for charging a primary laptop while also topping up their smartphone, wireless earbuds or camera accessories.
The casing is made from a durable and heat-dissipating anodized aluminum designed for a long service life and includes replaceable rechargeable batteries. The build is sufficiently robust to withstand life on the road and a silicone ventilation bar keeps the airflow moving which reduces operating temperatures.
“Modern professionals work from everywhere: airports, coffee shops, trains, and client sites; yet power bank design hasn’t evolved to match modern hardware,” says Krafted. “With Edge, our goal was to build a power bank that feels like an organic extension of your laptop: ultra-thin, beautifully finished, and capable of keeping you productive all day without tethering you to a wall outlet.”
