The British audio brand KEF has been in business for 65 years, releasing speakers that have shaped the sound of classic British audio. Today, KEF has announced the launch of one of its most ambitious creations to date: the LS LUXE.

Developed in partnership with designer Ross Lovegrove , the LS LUXE speakers are all about luxury listening. At the core of the new speaker is KEF’s 12th-generation, 6.5-inch Uni-Q driver featuring Metamaterial Absorption Technology. The launch also sees the debut of KEF’s Velocity Control Technology. Together, the company claims these breakthroughs will “set a new definition for wireless hi-fi and elevated living.”

The LS LUXE is intended to be a functional work of art. Continuing KEF’s collaboration with designer Ross Lovegrove, the new speaker carries forward a legacy of KEF icons, including Muon, Mu headphones, and the Muo portable speaker. Lovegrove has transformed LS LUXE into an object where sculpture and technology become one.

“At KEF, we have always aimed to redefine the listening experience and make it truly inspiring. LS LUXE is that vision realized. True luxury doesn’t announce itself — it transforms the atmosphere of a space, blending design excellence and acoustic mastery in a way that feels both immersive and effortless,” says Grace Lo, KEF’s president and head of global marketing.

The LS LUXE is a sculptural piece of art and a wireless speaker that’s been engineered to redefine luxury listening. It has a rounded, low-diffraction design and is made from robust materials. Flexible decoupling chassis and advanced bulk molding compound offer a purer sound experience, with sharper clarity and deeper bass, setting a benchmark beyond KEF’s gold-standard LS50 Wireless II.

Featuring KEF’s 12th-generation 6.5-inch Uni-Q driver array, the LS LUXE offers a wider sweet spot with minimal distortion. The tweeter is precisely positioned at the acoustic center of the woofer, ensuring even sound dispersion throughout the listening space.

Metamaterial Absorption Technology acts as an acoustic black hole by absorbing 99% of unwanted rear sound from the tweeter to virtually eliminate distortion. KEF claims the result is a wider sweet spot, exceptionally low coloration, and an immersive, natural listening experience.

Velocity Control Technology

To maintain this purity, the Uni-Q driver assembly is mechanically decoupled using a flexible chassis that isolates vibrations. Velocity Control Technology is designed to deliver a highly controlled sound with improved bass accuracy and reduced distortion.

This is the first speaker to feature KEF’s Velocity Control Technology, building on the successful debut of the KEF XIO soundbar, which removes elements that can obscure detail in the sound. The closed-loop system uses a velocity sensor to monitor the Uni-Q driver in real time, feeding data instantly to a custom amplifier that corrects any movement inconsistencies.

Offering enhanced detail, accuracy, and tonality, even for lower volumes and across longer listening sessions, the LS LUXE uses advanced hardware. KEF’s proprietary Music Integrity Engine uses DSP algorithms to maintain definition and performance as the amplifiers work harder. Combining a 100W Class AB and 280W Class D current-drive amplifier per speaker, the LS LUXE offers high output with lower distortion.

Built on KEF’s W2 wireless platform, the LS LUXE can handle high-fidelity, lossless audio formats up to 24-bit/384kHz and multi-room audio throughout the home. The W2 wireless platform provides direct access to streaming services like Tidal, Amazon Music, Qobuz, Deezer, and more, directly from native apps using Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, QPlay, AirPlay, or Google Cast.

The LS LUXE also supports a range of wired connections, including HDMI eARC, analogue, optical, and coaxial. Users can easily connect a TV, CD player, or game console to the speakers. Each speaker also has a dedicated subwoofer output, while audiophiles can stream from local NAS drives or music servers, supporting lossless formats up to 24-bit/384kHz PCM and DSD.

KEF says that setting up the LS LUXE is easy using the KEF Connect app, which can be used to fine-tune the sound to match the environment and suit personal preferences. There’s a choice of Normal or Expert modes for granular control over EQ settings in dBs. An Advanced Room EQ DSP automatically adapts the speaker to suit the space it’s used in, while dedicated subwoofer presets guarantee integration with KEF’s subwoofer range.

Settings like volume, source selection, and other details can be changed using the KEF app or the C3 remote control. Everything is designed to be intuitive to use without the need for any technical expertise.

The KEF LS LUXE is available in three colorways: Dusk Titanium, Eclipse Black, and Mineral White. Each speaker includes the C3 remote with its aluminum top plate, backlit buttons, and a customizable favorite button.

Optional S-LUXE floor stands provide integrated cable management, while the K-Stream interspeaker cable enables high-resolution audio transfer with up to 8 meters of placement flexibility. For added convenience, the KW1 wireless subwoofer adapter kit offers a cable-free connection between LS LUXE and KEF subwoofers.
