Jetson Home Unveils Smart Water Heater and EV Charger
Jetson Home is broadening its portfolio far beyond traditional heating and cooling solutions, introducing a cutting-edge heat pump water heater and a smart electric vehicle charger engineered to operate as a unified, connected home energy network.
Unified Home Energy Management
The Vancouver enterprise has officially unveiled the Jetson Water and Jetson Charge. These new offerings synchronize seamlessly with the company's pre-existing Jetson Air climate control system, forging a comprehensive platform designed to regulate three of the largest household energy burdens.
Rather than forcing consumers to purchase heating units, water heaters, and EV chargers as isolated hardware—each demanding separate setup procedures, proprietary controls, and distinct applications—Jetson aims to harmonize these devices through a single interface. The platform tracks real-time electricity consumption and dynamically modulates appliance operations to optimize the property's available electrical capacity.
Ecosystem and Connectivity
Notably absent from the launch is any integration with Matter or other mainstream smart home ecosystems, a notable omission given that Matter already extends compatibility to EV charging and energy orchestration, offering a seamless pathway for cross-brand communication.
Jetson has remained silent regarding potential future support for Matter or third-party smart home platforms, choosing instead to concentrate entirely on its proprietary application and hardware infrastructure.
Jetson Charge Features and Capabilities
Delving into its technical specifications, the Jetson Charge features an integrated whole-home energy monitor. This tool actively records electricity usage and automatically throttles charging speeds based on concurrent domestic power demands—an invaluable asset for residences constrained by limited electrical service.
According to the manufacturer, the charger is fully compatible with homes operating on a 100-amp electrical service, potentially sparing homeowners from the costly expense of an electrical panel upgrade.
When hardwired, the Jetson Charge outputs up to 48 amps, granting users complete command over charging schedules, start protocols, and stop mechanisms directly through the brand's mobile app.
Jetson Water Heat Pump System
Simultaneously, the Jetson Water enters the market as a high-efficiency heat pump water heater, offered in 50-, 65-, and 80-gallon storage capacities.
Instead of generating thermal energy directly, the unit extracts ambient heat from the surrounding air to warm the water inside the tank. Jetson asserts this methodology consumes roughly 75% less electricity than a standard conventional electric water heater.
Users can effortlessly track water temperatures, toggle operating configurations, and engage a specialized vacation mode via the same application used to manage the Jetson Air system.
Importantly, both hardware additions retain the ability to function as standalone units, ensuring customers are not obligated to invest in the entire ecosystem simultaneously.
Market Trends and Availability
Home electrification, heat pumps, EV chargers, battery storage, and advanced energy management systems are rapidly establishing themselves as foundational pillars of the modern smart home.
Industry shipment metrics reviewed by the Rocky Mountain Institute reveal that manufacturers distributed 3.6 million heat pumps in 2025, comfortably surpassing the 3.2 million gas furnaces shipped during the same period.
Furthermore, electric water heaters comprised 54% of US water heater shipments across 2024 and 2025, though dedicated heat pump water heaters still occupy a smaller fraction of the total market share.
While competitors like Emporia already provide EV charging solutions capable of monitoring household electricity usage and adjusting speeds to protect the grid supply, Jetson differentiates itself by consolidating this functionality alongside climate control, hot water production, and its dedicated installation and maintenance services.
Reservations for both the Jetson Water and Jetson Charge are open now, with initial installations slated to kick off in 2027. Official pricing details remain unannounced.
