If you own one of Apple’s new MacBook Pros, you have a massive amount of computing power running on the latest and most advanced Apple silicon. Tech company iVANKY began developing its new Thunderbolt FusionDock in response to the trend for Apple’s most powerful MacBooks having fewer ports. As creative workflows grow more complex, users end up relying on multiple adapters to connect their external displays, SSD storage, audio interfaces and all the other bits of kit that can make a MacBook sing.

The first FusionDock from iVANKY used a dual USB-C/Thunderbolt 5 connection with two separate chipsets which means two lots of bandwidth to make more efficient use of a MacBook’s available ports, enabling a more complete desktop setup that a single-chip dock. As Apple silicon processors expanded the performance ceiling of Macs, so the FusionDock has now evolved to meet the needs of video editors, engineers, designers and content creators who use high-bandwidth, multi-device workflows.

The new FusionDock Ultra is designed exclusively for Apple Silicon Macs. The device includes an ultra-high-bandwidth 80Gbps Thunderbolt cable to carry the signals for displays, storage, peripherals and network traffic. With its dual-chip architecture, iVANKY says it has the necessary headroom to drive four native quad 6K displays, high-speed SSDs, RAIDs, 10Gb Ethernet and does so with 26 pro-grade ports that can all operate concurrently.

On compatible Macs, FusionDock Ultra supports native quad 6K displays without daisy-chaining or using third-party drivers. Timelines, source media, tools and previews can always be visible, enabling creators to view more of their project while keeping the rest of the workstation fully active. The dock doesn’t bypass Apple’s display limitations but works natively within macOS to provide stable and predictable performance.

Bandwidth is at the heart of the FusionDock Ultra’s design. Supporting up to 80Gbps bidirectional mThunderbolt bandwidth—or up to 120Gbps asymmetric bandwidth for display-heavy use—the FusionDock Ultra can work with high-speed storage devices, NAS systems and external accelerators. The level of throughput is intended to maintain stable and responsive performance during AI model training, 8K RAW editing, large dataset manipulation and multi-application creative production.

With a dock performing at the limits of what’s possible, heat can be a problem. For thermal stability, the FusionDock Ultra has an intelligent twin-fan cooling system that stays quiet during lighter workloads but scales automatically under pressure.

To dissipate heat efficiently, the dock’s floating alloy chassis and copper-alloy midframe help are designed so displays remain stable, drives stay connected and performance doesn’t degrade as sessions ramp up. Noise levels measure just 44 – 46dBA at 1cm in controlled environments, dropping significantly at normal desk distance.

Perhaps the most impressive feature of the FusionDock Ultra is its 26 ports which ensure multi-display setups don’t gobble up all the available bandwidth. High-bandwidth USB-C downstream ports, DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.0, UHS-II SD and microSD, optical audio, as well as front and rear 3.5mm audio jacks are designed to everything connected permanently.

The dock uses a magnetically articulated dual-cable which takes up two of a MacBook or other Mac’s ports, where the connectors allow the dock to adapt seamlessly across the entire Apple Silicon lineup, whether ports are side-by-side on a MacBook Pro or spaced apart as on a Mac Studio or Mac mini.

Power delivery provides up to 140W of host charging, keeping MacBook Pro systems charged during heavy rendering, compiling or ingesting sessions. There is also a dedicated 45W USB-C PD port for rapid charging of an iPad, iPhone or secondary device. Additional accessory power ensures smaller devices remain ready.

The FusionDock Ultra has been designed to keep top-end Mac workstations running at their peak level when under real-world load, ensuring displays, storage, network traffic, peripherals and power delivery remain stable even through extended work sessions.
