iPhone 17 Prices Slashed Further Days Before iPhone 18 Release
The iPhone 17 series is getting cheaper across several retailers and countries after getting initial discounts in the last two weeks . These price drops are happening days before Apple’s September 9th event as retailers race to clear stock before the new iPhone Fold and iPhone 18 releases . If the higher price rumours turn out to be accurate, this iPhone 17 deal might be the cheapest iPhone for a while.
iPhone 17 Drops To Lowest Ever Price
Amazon U.K. has extended its discounts since last week. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are now both £150 off their launch prices, down from £100 off last week . The base iPhone 17, which wasn’t discounted last week, is now £100 off. And the iPhone Air 512GB is down by £200.
Currys and John Lewis are also both offering £100 off the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, which hasn’t changed from last week. But that may change as we draw closer to the iPhone 18’s announcement. Make sure you subscribe to my free newsletter for the latest deal updates .
The iPhone 17 series remains discounted in Europe too. MediaMarkt Spain has the iPhone 17 Pro Max 256GB at €1,319, down €150 from its €1,469 launch price, which is a 10.2% discount. MediaMarkt Germany has the iPhone 17 Pro at €1,179 and the Pro Max at €1,329, both €120 off. PcComponentes in Spain is offering the iPhone 17 Pro at €1,229, saving €90.
Should I Buy The iPhone 17 Now?
There’s a solid argument for why you should buy now. Once Apple announces the iPhone 18 on September 9th, the Pro and Pro Max models from the current generation get discontinued. This will be your last chance to buy a new iPhone 17 Pro at any price, discounted or otherwise.
Elsewhere, U.S. buyers have no discounts available at Apple’s U.S. store or any other retailer outside of carrier deals, so these deals are exclusive to U.K., European and Australian shoppers right now.
Research firm IDC recently said that “the days of the cheap smartphone are ending,” which is obviously bad news for smartphone buyers and deal hunters. There will still be deals, especially for Android phones where competition is strongest. But handsets are starting at a higher price and if people continue, and are happy to, pay more then prices are unlikely to come down.
Is The iPhone 17 The Last Cheap iPhone?
Yes, the iPhone 17 is likely to be the last pre-price-hike iPhone for a while because the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to cost $100-200 more at launch. The higher price is driven by the same memory crisis that has already pushed up Mac, iPad and Android phone prices throughout 2026 . The standard iPhone 18 isn’t coming until spring 2027, which means anyone who wants a new iPhone this year is looking at higher Pro pricing regardless.
