Apple has released iOS 26.7, fixing nearly 80 security vulnerabilities in the iPhone software.

The arrival of iOS 26.7 comes alongside Apple’s major annual software upgrade iOS 27 , as an alternative to iPhone users who don’t want to update straight away. It comes less than a month after the last security upgrade, iOS 26.6.1 .

Apple doesn’t offer much detail about what’s fixed in iOS 26.7, to allow as many iPhone users as possible to update before attackers can get hold of the details.

But Apple’s long list of patches on its support page includes 16 vulnerabilities in the iPhone’s Kernel at the heart of the iOS operating system. Of these, the most serious is CVE-2026-43689 , which could allow a malicious app to gain root privileges.

The iOS 26.7 list of bug squashes also includes five flaws in ImageIO, and one in Webkit, the engine that underpins Safari. Tracked as CVE-2026-43715, the use after free flaw could lead to memory corruption, if a user processes maliciously crafted web content.

iOS 26.7 And iOS 27 — Choose Which Update To Apply

When you navigate to your software updates , you will find the option to upgrade to iOS 26.7 displayed prominently, with the iOS 27 alternative listed at the bottom.

When Apple issues a new software upgrade like iOS 27, it updates the older platform, in this case iOS 26 , for several months. It’s a great idea, because Apple fans are famously reluctant to apply new upgrades straight away, fearing bugs that can make their iPhones unusable. This is especially key for businesses, which must remain secure but don’t want to risk issues with their critical apps.

The choice to apply iOS 26.7 might also be down to whether your iPhone can run iOS 27 , so it’s a good idea to check.

Apple’s iOS 26.7 is available for the iPhone 11 and later, iPad Pro 12.9-inch 3rd generation and later, iPad Pro 11-inch 1st generation and later, iPad Air 3rd generation and later, iPad 8th generation and later, and iPad mini 5th generation and later.

Security experts usually recommend enabling automatic updates, but these are issued by Apple in staged roll outs, which can take days or even weeks to reach everyone. It’s therefore a good idea to apply iOS 26.7 manually.

So, what are you waiting for? Go to your Settings > General > Software Update and download and install iOS 26.7, or iOS 27, now.
