Control Resonant is out tomorrow, which arrives with better reviews than the original game and a whole lot of hype behind it. While Control Resonant has had early access for a couple of days, the “real” launch is tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 24. Remedy has posted the release times for the game, and depending on your region, you may be able to start relatively early in the day. Pre-load is live now on all platforms. Here’s the release time list:

  • 10am ET
  • 11am BRT
  • 3pm BST
  • 4pm CEST/SAST
  • 5pm EEST
  • 8:30pm IST
  • 10pm CST/SGT
  • 11pm JST/KST
  • 12am AEST (September 25th)
  • 2am NZST (September 25th)

So, over here in the Americas, we can play pretty early in the morning, provided you are not saddled with work or school. Which most people would be, but maybe you call in sick that day, I don’t know.

Control Resonant has an 84 metascore, but many critics have claimed that it’s their GOTY so far, and given that the original Control got a GOTY nomination with a lower score, it’s possible that Control Resonant does the same. I personally gave it an 8/10, perhaps a bit lower than others, but I did genuinely like it. I will say it takes time to really get rolling, but by the end, between combat and story, it’s a great, memorable time. Here’s an excerpt from my review:

“It’s an interesting idea to switch genres to expand the world of Control with a radically different genre. It works, most of the time, though there are aspects that could use more polish and rethinking given that this is Remedy’s first stab at a large-scale brawler. For what it lacks in fleshed-out systems, it makes up in universe building and art direction.”

I believe most Control players will like it. I believe even those interested in open-world games that break some molds, or flash back to classics like Infamous or Prototype , might as well. We’ll see how things go starting tomorrow after launch, and heading into the weekend as user scores start to pile up.
