Diablo 4 has finally introduced its famed Horadric Cube in it s Lord of Hatred expansion, and it has arrived with way, way more abilities than it used to have, recipes that span all areas of the game.

It can be tough to know where to even start, but there are a number of key recipes and capabilities that I think you should know about if you’re working your way through Diablo 4 . So let’s go through them:

  • Adding affixes is great for blue or yellow gear that has started out strong with good ones. If you want to keep those good ones, you can enchant one affix and then keep the roll in order to “lock” it if you try to change the gear in the Cube.
  • Transfigure is when you have “completed” an item. Fully. Imprint, Temper, Masterwork, Enchant, Sockets, literally everything you can do to it. This allows the addition of a decent or sometimes super-powerful addition to an item to “complete” it, whether that’s an extra affix or taking the weapon well beyond its 25 masterwork level. Just don’t screw it up with an unfinished item. No refunds.
  • Rerolling a set charm is something I wish I had figured out a while ago, as it’s a good way to complete a set if you keep getting the wrong ones to finish it. It will also reroll its affixes, however, just as an FYI.
  • Unique Charm creation lets you target specific ones. You need three of any Unique charm (you will end up with a lot eventually), plus the item you want to make into a charm. So, if you want Temerity pants not as pants, but as a charm, you do three Unique charms, throw in Temerity, and you’ll get a charm with its barrier power. Then you can use different pants.
  • There is a wild unique tuner that will drop eventually and can give an amulet a second legendary power pulled from the utility pool. It also works on uniques. It’s rare, but awesome.
  • Five of the same kind of legendary armament tributes can be combined into a mythic tribute that you can use in the Undercity to land mythic drops at the end.
  • You can craft a Horadric Gem with max gem stats if you combine five of the same Grand Gems. Good luck racking those up, though.
  • Combining any five Nightmare Dungeon keys will give you an escalation sigil that takes you through multiple dungeons at a time for big rewards.

There are obviously more than these, but I think these are some of the big ones, even if many may be somewhat inaccessible in the endgame. I think the affix ones are good for all levels and will help refine your gear. Transfiguration is kind of the endgame for all gear in the game, as if you miss, you rank up another piece and go for it again. Good times.
