Following the US theatrical release of Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery Of Nymph Circe , the anime movie will be released on Netflix on August 31 .

Released earlier this year in Japan, the movie received its US theatrical release back in May.

Following the first movie, these films are based on the Hathaway’s Flash novels written by Yoshiyuki Tomino . Many thought that these books were unadaptable, but these movies have turned out wonderfully and are surprisingly faithful to the host work.

I saw the film in Japanese theaters back in January and thought it was genuinely excellent, and I then followed up with an interview with the movie’s director, Shuko Murase , in May.

In that interview, Murase confirmed that these movies follow the anime continuity a lot closer, with Hathaway’s “crime” being the one he committed at the end of the anime movie Char’s Counterattack .

This facilitated a new segment at the end of this movie where Hathaway fights a hallucinatory version of the Nu Gundam piloted by Amuro.

To be honest, that whole segment was really special to see on the big screen, as the handling of the Nu Gundam was wonderfully animated.

In any case, if you missed the movie in US theaters in May, you can now finally watch it on Netflix from August 31 .
