Things have taken a turn in the great Grand Theft Auto VI leak saga, where an individual known as Cyberleek has posted footage and images from the upcoming game in various stages of development over the past few days. Now, however, new footage indicates this may be an even larger problem for Rockstar.

Previously, the GTA VI footage shown is mostly driving and attacking random civilians. Now, however, there’s a new video that shows Jason painting the word LEEK on a wall with bullets. This is the first clear indication that Cyberleek has not just lifted test footage from somewhere, but is instead currently playing a build of the game itself, or perhaps a source is sending them live footage.

That’s an entirely different ballgame, as, depending on how thorough the build is, it leaves the door open for them to show anything in the game. Alongside this new footage, there is a clip of Jason flying a plane, revealing the entire grand Vice City landscape from above. Cyberleek continues to taunt Take-Two and Rockstar, who have been unable to stop these leaks, and legal takedowns of the footage on social media are nowhere near fast enough to stop these clips from spreading.

Cyberleek has maintained that they’re doing this to send a message to Rockstar about anti-consumer policies, such as the company releasing GTA VI only digitally, not on a physical disc. Many fans are cheering them as some sort of online freedom fighter for this, but the leaker also stamps every release with ads for a crypto coin, and they recently ran a paid poll on their website about what should be released next. So this is hardly a selfless revolutionary here.

Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase

The seeming confirmation that Cyberleek has a full build, likely from 2025, opens the door to the possibility that the story of GTA VI could start being spoiled. So far, Cyberleek has only released one cutscene, one that seemed directly targeted at Rockstar with characters talking about hiding online activity using a VPN. But if they can pick and choose what footage to release, it stands to reason that hugely significant cutscenes could potentially be on deck. This feels similar to what happened to The Last Of Us Part II in 2020, where key story developments were leaked ahead of release.

This is the worst-case scenario for Rockstar, an enormous leak just months before the release of what is supposed to be the biggest game launch of all time, one fans have been waiting 13 years for. Right now, these random bits of footage are in and of themselves not some giant reveal of surprises if you watch them (minus a few system reveals like gas for cars), but again, if a full build is accessible, that could mean significant story spoilers could go online at any time if Cyberleek is not caught or stopped.

Take-Two and Rockstar have yet to issue any public comment on the leaks. This story is ongoing, and will be updated as new information comes in.
