First WiiM Soundbar With Dolby Atmos, Touch Display And Expandability
Popular wireless audio brand WiiM is launching its first soundbar with true 3.0.2 Dolby Atmos configuration and a custom array of eight drivers, the WiiM Bar includes an intuitive touch display for on-device control and is designed to deliver audiophile-grade music performance. This new soundbar is designed to be expanded. While it can function as a standalone soundbar, it can also be used as the centerpiece of a complete 5.1.2 home theater system.
The WiiM Bar has top-firing height channels for a realistic sense of overhead sound, while RoomFit auto-correction adjusts the sound to suit the room it’s being used in. The WiiM Bar integrates into the WiiM ecosystem, a multi-room wireless technology designed to rival the likes of Sonos.
The WiiM ecosystem offers multi-room grouping of speakers, advanced EQ along with access to more than 20 music streaming services, all controllable from within the WiiM app or directly using the WiiM Bar's touch display.
“The WiiM Bar is a natural next step for our ecosystem, bringing the same simplicity and high-fidelity performance our community loves into the living room,” says WiiM’s CEO Dr. Lifeng Zhao. “With true Dolby Atmos sound, an intuitive touch display, and the ability to expand from a standalone soundbar into a full surround setup, it’s designed to grow with the way our users enjoy music, movies, and gaming.”
Like all WiiM speakers, the WiiM Bar integrates with the WiiM Home App, giving users control over the music and audio they want to play across devices and different rooms around the home. Whether it’s streaming on favorite platforms and managing EQ settings, to grouping speakers and amplifiers or adjusting sound modes, all the controls are accessible using a smartphone or tablet.
As an all-in-one soundbar, the WiiM Bar can be the anchor for both home theater and music setups. The 2.1-inch round touch display is protected by glass and displays album art, playback controls, source switching, EQ, Smart Presets and personalization directly on the soundbar.
With true 3.0.2 Dolby Atmos sound and top-firing height channels out of the box, the WiiM Bar can be expanded wirelessly into a full 5.1.2 surround sound system by pairing the soundbar with other compatible WiiM devices and a subwoofer for the low level sounds.
WiiM says the new soundbar is designed for Movies, TV and music thanks to a total of eight speakers and four passive radiators. The speaker array includes front mid-woofers, front tweeters and top full-range height drivers. It can support HDMI eARC and audio formats including LPCM, Dolby Atmos/TrueHD/DD+, AC3, DTS, and DTS:X.
To ensure the sound from the WiiM Bar acoustically matches the room it’s used in, there is RoomFit Room Correction, a technology that automatically measures the listening space and adjusts the output for balance and optimizes the sound for any position.
Because listening conditions vary, WiiM has included Dialog Enhancement and Night Modes. There is a Clear Voice Mode that uses AI-powered dialogue enhancement to better separate speech from background audio in real time. WiiM claims the result is clearer and more natural conversation. The Night Mode softens any loud effects while preserving dialogue clarity.
The WiiM system can stream from more than 20 music platforms using the WiiM Home app. Alternatively, users can cast music directly using Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Google Cast, Roon and more. However, there’s no support for Apple AirPlay because WiiM dropped that capability a little while ago.
Playback on the Wiim Bar can be managed using the touch display or app, but there’s also voice control built in and the soundbar comes with a remote control. The WiiM Bar is designed to evolve by ongoing firmware updates that will add new features and refine performance based on feedback from the WiiM community.
