Firewalla , the San Diego-based cybersecurity company specializing in Zero Trust networking, has added Firewalla X and Firewalla SE managed switches to its growing hardware ecosystem. Designed to extend network security down to the physical layer, these new devices complement the company’s existing range of firewalls and wireless access points for a fully segmented, clean and trustworthy network.

The Firewalla Switch family consists of two managed models designed to integrate wired infrastructure into a Zero Trust framework. The two new switches represent the final brick in the Firewalla’s wall. The new devices ensure local networks remain secure and fully monitored. With these additions, organizations can manage visibility, segmentation, and access controls across both wired and wireless devices from a single smartphone app.

Building on the introduction of the Firewalla AP7 Wi-Fi 7 access point in 2025, the new switches bring Firewalla’s proprietary VqLAN technology, dynamic segmentation, and centralized management to wired office setups.

With the Firewalla Switch family, we’re extending those capabilities to wired devices and completing the Firewalla Zero Trust architecture.”

Unlike traditional managed switches that focus strictly on layer-2/3 connectivity, Firewalla’s switches emphasize policy enforcement and traffic visibility. Administrators can monitor local device-to-device (east-west) traffic, view interactive network topologies, and apply strict segmentation rules across all endpoints via the Firewalla mobile app.

Standalone And Integrated Operation

Both switches function as standalone managed switches alongside Firewalla Gold, Purple, or Orange firewalls. When deployed with Firewalla AP7 access points, they create an end-to-end security fabric extending across both airwaves and Ethernet.

Designed for high-performance backbone deployments, the rack-mountable Firewalla Switch X features eight 10Gb RJ45 ports with PoE++ support, alongside four 10Gb SFP+ uplink ports. With a total PoE budget of 420W, it can easily power power-hungry endpoints like multi-sensor security cameras and Wi-Fi 7 access points. The Switch X supports both VqLAN and traditional VLAN configurations.

Designed for smaller networks, branch offices, and edge setups, the compact Firewalla Switch SE offers eight 2.5Gb RJ45 ports with PoE+, two 10Gb SFP+ uplink ports, and a 120W PoE power budget. Its desktop-friendly form factor makes it ideal for shelf deployment where rack space isn’t available. It can run as an independent edge switch or alongside the Switch X to cost-effectively extend segmentation across distributed sites.

Designed for smaller networks, branch offices, and edge deployments, the compact Firewalla Switch SE has eight 2.5Gb RJ45 ports with PoE+. There are a couple of 10 Gigabit SFP+ uplink ports, plus a total of 120W PoE power budget.

Like its larger sibling, the Switch SE supports VqLAN and traditional VLAN deployments but has a compact desktop size that’s suitable for use on a shelf or in environments where there’s no cabinet.

The Switch SE can operate independently or it can be used alongside the larger Switch X as an edge switch, providing a more cost-effective way to extend network segmentation and visibility throughout a scattered organization.

Zero Trust Architecture Without Subscription

A complete deployment of Firewalla firewalls, AP7 access points, and new switches enables a comprehensive Zero Trust platform across internet gateways, wireless infrastructure, and wired endpoints. Crucially, Firewalla maintains its subscription-free model: once the hardware is purchased, there are no ongoing software management fees.

Pricing and Availability:

Firewalla is ramping up production of the Switch X and Switch SE for a scheduled release in September/October 2026. Projected pricing is set at $649 / £487 / €566 for the Switch X and $399 / £225 / €262 for the Switch SE.
