Travelers looking to save some money on shoulder season this fall may be out of luck thanks to the rising cost of jet fuel.

Airfares typically drop between Labor Day and mid-November, but the average domestic airfare for a ticket this fall is 39% higher than it was last year, and international fares are on the rise too, according to data from Hopper Technology Solutions. Jet fuel, which accounts for up to a quarter of an airline’s operating expenses, has surged 50% since the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran in late February.

“The jet fuel price increase has been so sustained that at this point, airlines have to pass it along to customers to protect their own economics,” Hayley Berg, HTS’s lead economist, told Forbes .

In the op-ed, Druckenmiller, who is worth about $7.8 billion and once worked with Scott Bessent, criticized the Treasury Secretary’s expansion of government bond repurchases.

The late billionaire owner of adult content platform OnlyFans, Leonid Radvinsky, received over $700 million in dividends from the firm just months before he died, corporate filings show. Shortly afterward, OnlyFans’ parent company agreed to sell a 16% stake to San Francisco-based Architect Capital in a deal that valued the firm at around $3.1 billion.

Sen. Darline Graham, R-S.C., won the Republican primary runoff to replace her late brother, Sen. Lindsey Graham , for a full term, after President Donald Trump campaigned for her and his super PAC spent nearly $1 million supporting her. She defeated Rep. Dolly Parton, who was born to farmers in Tennessee in 1946 and grew up “dirt poor,” passed away Tuesday at 80 after becoming one of the most decorated women in country music history , winning 10 Grammy Awards, two Oscar nominations, a National Medal of the Arts and achieving Kennedy Center Honors in 2006.

Before her death, Forbes estimated Parton’s net worth at approximately $450 million. Although most famous for her music, Parton’s wealth primarily came from her stake in Dollywood , the theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee that she first invested in in 1986, and eventually opened a companion hotel and water park.

Parton had a catalog of more than 3,000 songs, including “I Will Always Love You” and “9 to 5,” which in 2025 Forbes estimated was worth about $120 million. She released 49 studio albums over the course of her nearly 60-year recording career, with over two dozen registered Gold or Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. Her success transcended generations and continued into the streaming era. Parton has an average 16.2 million monthly Spotify listeners, according to the streaming service, while her most-streamed song, the 1973 single “Jolene,” has been streamed over 950 million times.
