Today, Japan’s high-end audio brand Esoteric has removed the covers from its new T-01 turntable, which features a patented Esoteric MagneDrive, a contactless drive system that’s totally silent. The new turntable will be available for international shipment at the end of September 2026, priced at $50,000.

First introduced in the Grandioso T1 turntable, the patented Esoteric MagneDrive System was designed to redefine the foundations of analog playback through exclusive contact-free drive technology. The integral drive achieves rotational silence, stability and a high-torque performance designed to reveal music “with uncompromising precision, energy, and realism.”

The launch of the T1 comes four years after the debut of the Grandioso T1 turntable. Developed from the engineering principles established in the Grandioso T1, the new T-01 borrows key technologies from Esoteric’s flagship analog platform, including a 10MHz external clock synchronization, a sophisticated triple-layer aluminum and MDF cabinet construction, plus the newly developed MagneDrive motor system which is integrated in a more installation-friendly chassis architecture.

Blending mechanical engineering and advanced electronic design, the T-01 is designed to reproduce a recording’s original master sound with realism, musical energy and depth. The high-torque motor aims to provide superior pitch stability and dynamic bass performance.

Magne-Float platter technology reduces the platter’s effective mass from 13kg to approximately 4kg, minimizing spindle bearing friction. The MagneDrive motor is integrated in the chassis design to enable easier installation and improved usability. The motor is silent thanks to a vibration-absorber case construction. The high-end separated design consists of a main unit and compact power supply for improved operational efficiency and better sound isolation.

A high-quality Master Sound Discrete Clock motor driver is designed to ensure accurate platter rotation. Clock sync compatibility supports a 10MHz clock sync with the G-01XD/G-05 master clock. An inverted bearing system provides a smooth and stable platter rotation.

The chassis is made up of three layers, combining aluminum and wood to effectively control vibration, with a mid-chassis finished in a high-gloss piano lacquer. Specialized isolation feet have a fully integrated design of a spike, spike pad and damper that’s been designed for maximum vibration suppression and anti-feedback performance.

The Esoteric MagneDrive system is a non-contact, magnetically induced turntable drive system. Esoteric spent more than five years from the start of the project to the patent acquisition and commercialization of the MagneDrive system. A magnetic driver is mounted on the top of the drive motor, while the side has a dome-shaped magnet with alternating S and N poles.

The platter is made of non-magnetic aluminum, but a soft iron induction wheel surrounds the lower part of the platter side, positioned in proximity to the Magnetic Driver mounted on the motor assembly.

As the Magnetic Driver rotates, the platter rotates synchronously with the induced magnetic force applied to the induction wheel. Because the induction mechanism operates without direct physical contact, the platter remains completely isolated from any motor-borne vibration and rumble.
