Be careful what you wish for because you might not get it, and what you get instead could be just as hard — if not harder. WBC Super Featherweight champion, O’Shaquie Foster made it clear after he scored a unanimous-decision win over Ray Ford in May that he wanted a fight with Shakur Stevenson. Foster called Stevenson in the ring; the two jawed at each other and Foster continued calling out Stevenson for weeks after.

Stevenson wasn’t interested as he is at a point in his career where fighting someone like Foster, who hasn’t become a household name, just doesn’t make a lot of business sense. Foster shot his shot, didn’t get what he wanted and now he finds himself in a unification bout with WBO and IBF champion, Emanuel Navarrete on October 24 in San Antonio. Let’s talk boxing.

Navarrete vs. Foster Key Facts

Navarrete used the phrase himself. He said he is a Mexican warrior who fears nothing and no one , and that he is coming for a third world title having already won two. He is 40-2-1 with 33 knockouts and has held belts at 122, 126 and 130 pounds, most recently stopping unbeaten IBF titleholder Eduardo Nuñez in February . Foster is 25-3 and beat Stephen Fulton before outworking Ford. The card also carries Albert Gonzalez against Edward Vazquez and Frank Martin’s Top Rank debut.

Foster has the boxing skills to outclass Navarrete initially, but the real test will come in the later rounds when the hard-charging Mexican keeps coming with his signature, relentless pressure. Can Foster handle it? I wouldn’t be shocked if he completely masterclasses the fight and wins a shutout. I also wouldn’t be shocked to see Navarrete apply so much pressure that it results in Foster wilting down the stretch and things get very interesting.

The crowd dynamic will be interesting. Foster is a native of Texas, but there is always a strong Mexican contingent at fights in San Antonio. Despite it being a fight back in Foster’s home state, the crowd could largely be pulling for and giving energy to Navarrete. It’s going to be a heck of a fight and one that could be one of the best of 2026.
