While we know that Crimson Desert DLC is supposed to drop in the next few months , the focus on Opening Night Live was the announcement of a “complete” addition, Crimson Desert Enhanced. While it recaps the large amount of updates that the game has already added for free, there’s even more than that, including one almost joke-like addition:

This has been a running gag for a while, that Crimson Desert has patched almost all of its biggest problems except its main one, a lackluster story with a dull lead. That was certainly thought of as something that could not be patched, but it turns out that’s not the case. At least to a certain extent.

The Enhanced Edition promised “New Story Moments,” which was pretty vague. The patch notes say Pearl Abyss “Improved the narrative flow of the main story. Added knowledge, items, memory fragments, dialogue lines and conversations to strengthen the narrative of bosses.”

From what I’ve seen so far, much of this is not minor at all. Especially toward the beginning of the game, there are significant changes to the structure of the story and the characterization of Kliff specifically, who has often been accused of being a sort of “blank slate” whose most memorable line is “Leave it to me.” Now, he’s become more of a character with much more dialogue, and there are, in fact, decently extended boss cutscenes. I’ve seen some from Hexe Marie, Ludvig and Myurdin so far. I don’t think the community has even found them all yet, but I don’t want to get into actual spoilers here.

There are many other additions to the game past this, including one that fans have been asking for since launch. The three playable characters, Kliff, Oongka and Damiane, now have the ability to share skill points, making all three viable combat characters. I was able to max all three characters with my existing pool of skill points, although that is on a 300-hour playthrough.

Kliff also has a number of new moves, with perhaps the most significant one being the ability to sprint across water now. Very funny.

There is also a New Game+ mode now, where you can restart the story while keeping your skill points and in-game currency, though not your gear. This is a way to experience these new story moments without losing everything (I’m sorry, I just can’t restart my 300-hour playthrough no matter what).

Crimson Desert continues to be one of the biggest stories of 2026, a new IP arriving out of relative nowhere, putting up huge sales and finding a large playerbase. The flawed game spent months patching in free updates and additions to improve it, and it is way, way better than what I played during the review period. Now, something as crazy as patching the actual story has happened. DLC is ahead, and I’m expecting a lot from that, given what we’ve seen so far.
