I swear that at this point, Pearl Abyss can just straight up read my mind about Crimson Desert , down to the smallest of details. As of its last patch, the game has patched in a change to something I found funny, but didn’t think too much of, and never thought that it would be addressed at all by the developer.

Well, I underestimated Pearl Abyss, which you would think I would know not to do at this point.

In several places around the Crimson Desert map, you will find some “treasure rooms,” full of gold and jewels and vases and paintings and such. But the only “lootable” objects are generally home decorations or literal treasure chests or strongboxes, which generally produce somewhat underwhelming rewards. But I had to laugh when I looked at the ground and saw literal stacks of gold bars everywhere, gold bars being nearly the most valuable item in the entire gap, investable in a bank that will give you a baseline 500 silver for them. But no, you can’t pick these up. A bit silly.

Silly? Not in Crimson Desert ! Pearl Abyss has now patched in a change to these , where you can pick them up as “Crude Gold Bars.” They are worth far less, about $5-8, compared to $500, but since there are so many in some locations and so easy to grab, that can add up incredibly fast.

There are a few locations for this, a big one being the Harpy’s nest in Pailune, where you will fight a giant bird and see that she has collected a whole bunch of treasure like a dragon hoard. Most of them are in boxes covered in snow scattered around.

The place I first noticed this is Spire of the Stars in The Abyss, which has a trap treasure room full of gold, easily accessible once you deactivate its lasers. The bars have been moved to tables around the room, when previously they were on the floor.

There is a hidden warehouse north of the Flame Knight’s Castle in Demeniss with a bunch as well. This will require you to steal, however, and I got a $100 bounty. Worth it.

So, you can collect a few hundred of these, and while the price is listed at $5, there is something weird where there appears to be a single fishing vendor that will instead pay $7.9 silver for them instead, a huge increase that makes that farming all the more valuable. If you visit these spots, and there are more past these, you can easily make $2000 or so relatively quickly. I got $960 from the Vengeance Vault in about 30 seconds. I am pretty sure that $3000-4000 silver can buy more or less every single thing in this game, so this alone would take you halfway there. And I can’t confirm it, but because these are “on the ground” items, they should probably respawn after some amount of in-game time.

Yeah so, big money here. Go nuts at those shops.
