The German audio brand beyerdynamic has unveiled two new wireless gaming headsets. The MMX 100 wireless and MMX 130 wireless are aimed at seasoned gamers as well as those who are just starting out, providing studio-quality sound without breaking the bank.

“With the MMX 100 wireless and MMX 130 wireless, we’re bringing real beyerdynamic audio DNA to gamers, whether they want fully focused isolation or an open, natural soundstage," says Matthias Heilig, product marketing manager for gaming at beyerdynamic. “We focused on what actually matters in the middle of a match: clear, accurate sound, all-day comfort, and a headset built to last well beyond the next session.”

When deciding between the new MMX 100 and MMX 130 wireless headsets, it really comes down to what you like as a gamer. The MMX 100 has a closed-back design that helps keep out background noise and stops sound from escaping. It’s suitable for noisy or shared spaces where gamers need to stay focused without disturbing others with annoying sound effects.

Whether you are in a bustling room, connected via a local area network or playing multiplayer games at high speed, the MMX 100’s sound is designed to keep external noise out of your ears, so you can stay in the zone and chat clearly with your teammates.

The MMX 130 wireless headset adopts a completely different approach with its open-back design. The sound is wider and more spacious, which comes across as a more natural and airy listening experience that gives games a more expansive feel, where details, dialogue and sound effects can have greater clarity and depth.

The open-back design of the MMX 130 lets you hear more of what’s around you, which is a bonus in quieter places or when playing immersive games. If you’re into cinematic adventures, story-rich games or just enjoy long gaming sessions where sound, natural sounds and feeling open are key, the MMX 130 wireless is probably the better choice than the closed-back MMX 100, which has a more focused sound.

Both headsets feature 40mm dynamic drivers. The MMX 130 wireless drivers are coated with titanium for more precise positioning and natural-sounding voices. The headsets offer triple-mode connectivity, including Bluetooth 6.0, a USB-C dongle with low-latency and an analog cable.

These connectivity options enable both headsets to connect with PCs, consoles, smartphones and handheld devices. When in dongle mode, the wireless latency is less than 30ms. In-game, the detachable META VOICE microphone is designed to provide clear voice communication, but it can be detached when you are listening to music or streaming videos.

Each headset comes with soft velour ear pads and a rechargeable battery that can last up to 80 hours on a single charge. The construction includes sturdy aluminum sliders, stainless steel hinges and replaceable batteries. You can also swap out the ear and headband pads, which will help keep the headsets in good shape for longer.

The beyerdynamic MMX headphones are designed to fold flat for travelling. The velour ear pads are held in place with magnets, which makes it easy to switch them out without using tools. The headsets play nicely with the beyerdynamic smartphone app, giving gamers the power to tweak the EQ, set an auto-shutdown and adjust voice assistant and voice prompt settings.

The beyerdynamic MMX 100 wireless and MMX 130 wireless are available in Black and Arctic White finishes. Each comes with the detachable META VOICE microphone, USB-C low-latency dongle, USB-A to USB-C adapter, 1.8m USB-C cable and a 1.8 m USB-C to 3.5mm cable.

The beyerdynamic brand will be showcasing its latest gaming innovations at gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany, where beyerdynamic is the First Presenter at the Indie Arena Booth. The MMX 100 wireless will make its public debut at the event. Attendees will be able to try the new headset at select stands, while the MMX 130 wireless will be available for an exclusive preview in the brand’s B2B area at the Indie Arena Booth.
