With the new, very faithful anime adaptation of Ghost in the Shell underway, Bandai Spirits has announced toys of the Fuchikoma and the Major.

Specifically, we have a Robot Damashii Fuchikoma and a S.H.Figuarts rendition of the Major.

Bandai Spirits has already handled the prior Tachikoma designs , to great effect and these new toys look absolutely spot on.

However, the big thing for me is that this is the first time we’ve had actual toys of the manga renditions of both the Fuchikoma and the Major.

Back when the manga was originally released , the only thing fans could buy were extremely expensive and delicate garage kits of things like a Fuchikoma.

So to see an actual Robot Damashii toy looking so accurate to the manga fills my aging heart with genuine joy.

Pricing and release date are currently unknown, but both these toy lines are known for more reasonable pricing, as well as legendary articulation and detailing.

The big question is whether the Major will be able to fit inside the Fuchikoma, but based on the relative size of these toys, it looks feasible. In any case, I have both my fingers and toes crossed that the Major will indeed be able to pilot this Fuchikoma toy.

One niggling worry is that the released photo (shown above) has the Fuchikoma sitting on a small stand. So that’s something I will be keeping an eye on once more details on these are released.
