Apple MacBook Pro Touch Release Timeline: New Date Enters The Schedule
After years of waiting and watching Windows laptops prove the power of touch, the Apple community is eagerly awaiting Apple’s first touchscreen MacBook. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests Tuesday, Oct 27 , will be the reveal of the new MacBook Pro. It certainly fits the pattern set by CEO John Ternus since he launched the new iPhones in September.
The Next Launch Is Not The MacBook Pro
Apple has scheduled its Oct. 13 “Welcome Home” showcase to promote domestic hardware updates to the media before introducing the iPhone Duo .
Apple is hosting a launch event next week, Tuesday, Oct. 13. Digital invites feature “Welcome Home” and a textile version of the six-colour Apple logo. As Forbes contributor David Phelan notes , this is going to be focused on Apple’s smart home products; “...recent reports have all pointed in the same direction, suggesting that the event will be about smart devices for the home. It’s definitely not going to be about iPhones or Apple Watches or AirPods as they’ve all just launched.”
Where Does The MacBook Pro Fit In Apple’s Media Diary?
Delaying the iPhone Duo until after the iPhone 18 Pro cycle ensures Apple’s first foldable handset commands exclusive media attention without direct competition .
Apple has a packed few weeks on the hardware front. Although the iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max and iPhone Duo launched at the start of September, the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max didn’t go on sale until the end of the month. Effectively, the new phones are getting a two-week wind-down period in the media.
The Welcome Home event will push to the front of the queue just as the core hype cycle for the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max dies away. While the MacBook Pro could have taken this opportunity, Apple has invested too much in the iPhone Duo for a long-awaited MacBook feature to dilute the foldable iPhone’s critical first week in the hands of the media and the public.
With pre-orders opening on Friday, Oct. 16, and retail sales starting one week later on Friday, Oct. 23, that’s a seven-day period where John Ternus and his team will want all eyes on the newest iPhone form factor.
Two Weeks For The 18 Pro, Two Weeks For The Duo, Two Weeks For The MacBook Pro
Launching the touchscreen MacBook Pro on Tuesday, Oct. 27 preserves a disciplined two-week cadence across its autumn hardware portfolio .
Just as a foldable iPhone has been a dream for many Apple faithful, so has a touchscreen MacBook Pro. It makes no sense for these products to overlap in hype cycles, or for lower-tier products to get in the way. That is why Tuesday, Oct. 27 fits perfectly into the tempo set by the iPhone 18 Pro launch. From reveal to pre-orders to media reviews to retail release, it has settled into a two-week pattern.
The iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max had their two weeks. The iPhone Duo is about to have its two weeks. After that, it’ll be the touchscreen-enabled MacBook Pro’s turn.
