It looks like the iPhone 17 discount party, which saw the iPhone 17 Pro Max and other models repeatedly discounted , is coming to an end.

For the last few weeks, the iPhone 17 has been one of the best deals in tech , with retailers around the world cutting prices ahead of the iPhone 18 launch. Not only is that window now closing, but the iPhone 17 Pro Max is much harder to come by after Apple discontinued it. One French chain has even stopped selling the iPhone 17 altogether.

Where The iPhone 17 Discounts Have Gone

The biggest change is at Amazon U.K., where the iPhone 17 Pro Max has all but disappeared. Two weeks ago it was one of the cheapest places to buy Apple’s biggest phone, but now the only model Amazon sells directly is the 2TB version (which is £100 off, in fairness). If you want a lower storage model on Amazon, you’ll have to buy it used.

The iPhone 17 Pro is still available at £999 (£100 off), but the base iPhone 17 has gone up to £899, £100 more than Amazon was charging earlier this month. It’s the same story at Currys and John Lewis, where the base iPhone 17 now also sits at £899, in line with Apple raising prices on its older iPhones after the iPhone 18 launch .

In Australia, JB Hi-Fi has pushed prices back up across the board. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is now AUD$1,999, the Pro AUD$1,799 and the base model AUD$1,549. When I last checked, those were AUD$1,899, AUD$1,699 and AUD$1,399 respectively.

In France, Fnac Darty isn’t selling the iPhone 17 at all.

The iPhone 17 Deals That Are Still Live

There are still some savings if you move quickly. In the U.K., Currys and John Lewis have the iPhone 17 Pro at £999 and the Pro Max at £1,099, both £100 below their launch prices. The iPhone Air 256GB is £799 at Amazon, Currys and John Lewis, £200 less than it cost at launch.

MediaMarkt Germany is the one retailer bucking the trend. The iPhone 17 Pro has actually dropped slightly to €1,144, while the Pro Max holds at €1,329 and the base iPhone 17 is €1,089.

Why These iPhone 17 Deals Won’t Come Back

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max have been discontinued , so once retailers sell their remaining stock, they won’t be replaced.

Prices elsewhere aren’t heading down either. Apple raised the price of older iPhones when it launched the iPhone 18, and research firm IDC has warned that smartphone prices are unlikely to return to previous levels even after the memory shortage eases.

If you’ve been holding out for a cheaper iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max, what’s left on shelves now may be the last chance to buy one new at a discount.
