Let’s stop pretending that we actually do real work on Fridays.

Friday is the time we clock in, albeit begrudgingly, do just enough to get by, sit through meetings that we’d rather not be in, push other meetings until Monday, and, after lunch, stay “online” on Slack or Teams while patiently waiting for the green light to begin the weekend.

But with the rise of AI use in the workplace, we now have a highly convenient alternative.

Rather than sit through endless hours of boring, soul-draining “work about work,” we can hand off administrative tasks to AI agents, halve our workloads, and get even more done.

We can actually reserve our mental energy for what matters most.

That, in my opinion, is one of the greatest benefits of AI: freeing up time so creativity can flourish instead of being crowded out by busywork, boosting well-being and creating more opportunities to enjoy life and work—for example, the four-day workweek.

But where can you find the perfect combination of flexibility and companies that offer fully remote or largely remote jobs while also having a four-day workweek policy?

Companies Hiring Remotely With A Four-Day Workweek

I did some looking around, and I scooped up a number of employers with live vacancies that not only hire remotely but have a four-day workweek policy in place as well.

One of the best things about companies that run a four-day workweek model is that they’re usually open to other forms of flexible work, too. Not only are most of them fully remote, but they also boast:

  • Very generous PTO, sometimes unlimited
  • Paid parental leave
  • A work-from-anywhere model in some cases
  • Generous 401(k) contributions
  • Stipend for your work-from-home office
  • And a lavish learning and ongoing training budget

Where Do You Find Companies With Four-Day Work Weeks?

The easiest way to identify companies with four-day workweeks is to look exclusively through flexible job boards. These include FlexJobs, Remote.co., and fourdayweek.io. Use the provided filters to narrow down the roles that meet your flexibility criteria.

You can also use AI to surface flexible work opportunities as soon as they are posted. For example, you could set up a recurring workflow on ChatGPT as a scheduled task that scans the web for companies hiring remotely with four-day workweek policies, and actively hunts for job postings that match your expertise.

You can set this up as a daily or weekly report.

Now, of course, before applying for a role, check the fine print. Is the employer merely squeezing and compressing a 40-hour workweek into fewer days, or are they genuinely offering a 32-hour workweek?

Does this working arrangement apply company-wide, or is it limited to specific roles?

Asking the right questions will help you enter the application process with the right expectations and avoid unwelcome surprises.

Even if you haven’t found your ideal role by looking through this list of companies yet, keep these employers on your radar.

They’re worth watching because they’re some of the select few who truly understand that attracting world-class talent requires way more than ping-pong tables and free pizza Fridays. These companies have mastered the art of redefining and redesigning work so it’s shaped around their people’s lives, as it should be.
