Trump Inaudible In First Attempt At TV Without Major Networks He Banned (Video)
President Donald Trump was inaudible while unveiling the new White House helipad on Monday without audio that would typically be provided by the White House TV pool—which refused to cover Trump on Monday after he revoked White House press access for CNN and other major outlets over the weekend without explanation.
Without pool cameras there to provide him with a microphone and disseminate audio and video footage to other outlets, Trump was drowned out by static in the feed provided to the White House.
CNN was assigned to provide pool coverage on Monday, but was unable to do so after Trump revoked White House credentials for the network, MS NOW and Politico over the weekend.
The pool, which is made up of CNN, CBS, Fox, NBC and ABC, said it would not assign another network to fill in for CNN, which filed a lawsuit along with the other two banned outlets against the Trump administration on Monday.
Several other outlets announced they would also limit coverage of Trump after he banned the three outlets: C-SPAN did not show Trump’s helipad unveiling, because there was no TV pool feed, and the Washington Post said it wouldn’t publish photos of the day’s events until midnight Eastern Time, “joining a collective effort with photographers in other newsrooms covering the White House in a show of support of the banned outlets.”
Amid the pool blackout, the White House promoted its own app on X , promising “real-time updates and live events streamed DIRECTLY to your phone” vowing, ironically, “no noise.”
Trump decided to implement the ban after controversial aide Natalie Harp showed him clips of negative media coverage, multiple outlets reported. Harp’s working relationship with the president has come under intense scrutiny in recent months as those in Trump’s inner circle have reportedly raised concerns about her influence over the flow of information to and from Trump.
Trump announced last week he would ban the three outlets, without explaining why, other than saying he was unhappy with their coverage, generally, alleging it was too negative. Journalists from the three outlets who showed up to the White House for work on Saturday were refused access and their hard passes, which grant unfettered access to designated press areas in the White House for certain journalists, were revoked. The outlets sued the Trump administration on Monday, claiming a violation of the First Amendment and a breach of due process that could have a chilling effect on other outlets.
